Worth it to keep playing PoE 1?
Well, GGG released a statement today and it doesn't seem good, at least according to the PoE subreddit. It seems that GGG has put all resources towards PoE 2 while giving PoE 1 delays in new league releases.
From what I played yesterday (about half of Act 1?), PoE 1 seems like a good game and I want to get into it, but if GGG wants to give PoE 2 sole priority... Last bumped on Apr 3, 2025, 4:16:54 PM

PoE is the best ARPG on the market right now, so it's definitely worth checking it out if u never played it before.
In terms of future, well no1 really knows right now. Initially they intended to develop both games in tandem, but they broke that promise earlier this year. Now they prioritize PoE2 for the moment and promised again to get back to PoE at some point, but that is to be seen yet. Gotta keep the expectations low right now. |

" Thanks, it's nice to see a different approach to GGG's statement. I don't want PoE to die, I just got into it yesterday and it seems like quite a fun game. |

What statement and where is the link to it?

If you're a brand new player there is more than enough content to keep you going until the next POE1 league is ready

If you're a new player:
1) Avoid Standard, unless you play Self-Found only. The economy is broken at best, and you'll be pulling your hair out trying to find a trade for the most basic of items. 2) That leaves Leagues, but those reset your characters any time a new League comes out, which at this point is a total roulette on when that happens. Is it worth playing? Probably not, but you can make your own choice with that information. |

Why are we making this a harder question than it needs to be? If you find the game fun, it's "worth" playing, because fun is why we play games. Sometimes, we don't need a "deeper meaning" to play video games.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

Lol. It's - obviously - not about a deeper meaning.
It's about whether or not getting hooked is a trap, or a waste of time, or a number of other things. I'll give some examples, even though you're not listening: 1) Some games hook you in, but then the actual game is a bunch of shameless pay to win bait, like gear upgrades have a chance to break unless you pay, or some game content is for premium players only, etc. Thus, "is this game worth playing?" 2) Maybe the game becomes something it's not advertised as, like Battletoads having a great first level, but then every level after that has no resemblance to what you liked about level 1 (although level 2 is also cool). And thus... "is the game worth playing?" 3) Maybe mechanics fall short in their final conclusion, or there are other issues that overshadow the good parts of the game, etc etc, BLAH blah blah, at the end of the day, do we get attached to an idea or a feeling of the gameplay that ultimately doesn't last, and makes us want more of it, but there ISN'T more of it, and we either quit the game, or keep playing while grasping at straws to try to experience what we had hoped the game would grow into? Thus... "is this game worth playing?" It's a valid question. It's a lot more complicated than just, "if you have fun, then it's worth playing." And yet, it's not really complicated at all, but it goes beyond your surface thought, is all. |
