Advice for 40 challenges (Settlers / T17 maps)

Hi.

I wasn't planning on getting the 40 challenges but I found out about a fun build (blood sacrament) and I thought that, after taking a break, I might want to go for the 40 challenges just for fun (since 3.26 won't arrive until summer or later I have time to play other games and come back later for the last 3 challenges that I'm missing).

My main build (rage-crit Ice Crash Inquisitor) can do any content except T17 map bosses. Anything else is easy. The problem is that T17 maps either have mods that just make it impossible for my build or don't meet the requirements for the challenge.

I've seen videos of people doing uber content and T17s so easily that they just stand still to let you see how much damage boss skills deal. How can I get close to doing T17 like that? I play with a controller, so I can't play because it lets me move around with ease while not having to aim and the animation is faster than Ice Crash. I spent most of my wealth already so I don't have a budget and that's why I'd like someone to give me a direction so, even if I have to grind again, I know that when I get there I'll be able to do T17s bosses and things like The Feared guaranteed.

Thanks in advance for your time!

P.S.: Just as a side note, I tried to go for MF on the Blood Sacrament build and with 130% extra rarity I find the same loot I find with my normal build.

It's build dependent with ubers. I'm not familiar with your build, but you only need to do 4, so focus on the easier ones. In general I would say Sirus, maven, exarch are the tougher ones. So try some of the others that suite your build to start with. Entry fee is also something to consider, some of the keys are usually cheaper than others.

T17 you will need to roll the maps for your build as well, which is more difficult while meeting 250%. If your only wanting the achievement you might be able to find a way to get easy boss mods and skip to the boss room while not loosing portals on the map. Use portal scarab if not already.

This will be tough if your build cant handle it. Difficulty wise it is a step up form a lot of the other achievements.

I made my own rathpith build in settlers, it's pretty different to yours, had lucky max block from glad, but it did a few of the ubers, with some difficult.

You need a very strong build to be able tank damage in these encounters. I was also playing an ice crash build that was very good with modest damage, and did some of the ubers, but with difficulty.

Slows are one of the biggest problems. Finding a way to counter that can help. These are hard fights on borderline builds. The builds you are seeing are probably very optimized.

Feared is probably not as hard, but takes a fair bit of learning and is still challenging. Picking the right order for killing them can help, so you don't have 3 bosses at the same time that you can't handle. All these fights get a lot harder on builds that have less damage and defense. A lot of the fights have damage or Degen that can build up as the fight goes on.

Thank you for your reply!

I've played with Kaom's Roots for a while which can help with some slows but since it doesn't affect all slows and makes me very slow by default I stopped using them.
But my issue is that I can't roll favourable T17 maps because if I go for easy mods it usually means I don't get the item quantity.
I don't know what should I aim for, because with my tanky Ice Crash build I still get destroyed (specially by Abomination bosses) so even if I decided to grind I wouldn't know what for. I guess my Blood Sacrament still has potential since I could get a few items that would give me more HP like The Adorned with some 7% Life jewels. I might have to look more into it, since I've seen some builds with over 30k life and I still have 18K.
Yep, Abomination is certainly one of the tougher ones. It might be in some cases that ubers are actually easier for you that the 250% t17.

Knowing what the mods do, how they effect bosses and your build will be important.

Looking at your POB, I think it can probably do ubers on rathpith build. Damage is ok, but a bit on the low side for ubers. Defense is not too bad, but you don't want to be face tanking them. The ice crash might be a bit more difficult, but its possible there is a certain fight or mod roll where it can be better.

I think you should be able to find mods to run at 250, it will just take some effort. Do you know all the strats for getting the quant up, like mortal frags etc.?

A few more levels might help if you're struggling with it as well. Since you got to 100 I don't think you'll have much trouble getting the other one to 96.

Getting some useful double corrupts on your unique items might help if u can manage it. Non MF gloves as well, usually can get pretty powerful mods on rare gloves.

Just had an look at my rathpith character from settlers, it acutally has substantially less damage than yours (1 million), but might be more tanky, it has lucky max block and a lot of regeneration. The ice crash build might of been a bit stronger than yours, but i've changed that build since then so can't say for sure. Most ubers were done on the ice crash build I think.

Ubers I did were all except, exarch and maven. Sirus was the most difficult out of the ones I completed. It's pretty easy up until final phase where it gets tough with low damage and degen build up.

Thank you for taking the time! I can scrap more damage on my Blood Sacrament build because I'm trying out MF right now (although I don't get any good loot even with 130% extra Item Rarity). I can switch Item Rarity Support for Brutality and Aurseize for some rare gloves or Entropic Devastation if I farm to buy it. Gladiator might also not be the best ascendancy but I thought blocking would help me recover the reserved life.

My Ice Crash build seems to have peaked though. I don't know how to make it better. It's great for mapping and for most bosses and I'm sure I could maybe do Ubers since everything but Maven is a piece of cake (specially if I get the insta-leech enchantment) but T17 bosses deal just too much damage and there's always some annoying mod that makes it even harder. Even swapping Increased Crits Support for a lvl6 Awakened Elemental Focus Support I don't do enough to kill bosses fast enough. The biggest problem is that I get killed after their initial phase (like when Lycia summons a beyond demon and starts sending waves, Ice Crash has such a wind up that if I attack I can't dodge and if I dodge I can't attack).

I know the fragment strategy to get the quant up, not sure if there's others.
I was mostly looking for a controller-friendly build that's also noob-proof.
I have a lvl95 Chieftain, maybe I could look for a RF build. That should be pretty straight forward and since my Winds of Change Volcanic Fissure build seems a bit of a poof I don't mind refurbishing the whole character.

Thanks again!
Yeah I don't know much about playing MF.

RF is good for league start and mapping and tankiness, but not sure how well it goes for ubers on damage. Maybe it is decent for the t17, but im not sure it is specifically something you want to build for them. I don't know the current RF meta though.

Yeah the Lycia can be tricky as well. I remember encountering something like what you are talking about. It's mainly down to the mods, you just gotta get ones that don't brick the fight. Sometimes this means having access to some sort of utility that can counter the mods as well, just for that fight or phase.

Citadel and fortress are probably good ones to start on, I seem to find them easier.

Still you want your build to be pretty ready and know the fights once you have the maps, so that you don't brick the good ones, given they are hard to roll.

I'll follow your advice and get some extra levels on my gladiator and be careful with the rolls then.
The Fortress boss I managed to kill with my Inquisitor, although I used the scarab strat to remove bad mods so it's kind of cheating.

Thanks once more!
GL, the list of exclusive t17 mods is on here down the bottom of the page, incase you haven't seen it.

There's a few ones that are really bad for bosses and others that aren't.

Yeah you probably want to be finishing them comfortably before you attempt the 250%'s.

This thread is about getting 250% quant on T17s.

The hard way is to use a Titanic scarab. :)
