Toxic community

Beep Boop. Early access games come with significant challenges. Players are exposed to an unfinished and potentially unpolished product, which can lead to negative reviews and a tarnished reputation if not managed properly. The pressure to deliver frequent updates, bug fixes, and new content to keep players engaged can be intense, and if the initial launch is not handled carefully, it can result in poor sales and bad reviews.
Moreover, early access can create unrealistic expectations among players, who may demand continuous updates and improvements. Community management becomes a critical aspect of early access, as developers must engage with the community to address feedback and maintain player satisfaction.
This can be time-consuming and demanding, often becoming a second job for developers.

Biggest advice, if you ever want to develop a game, never do it through EA. Find the funding elsewhere to save face for everyone.

My brother in Christ, it was the community that wanted GGG to release the game in EA with fees, it was not GGG's idea to release the game to the public in EA.

Well the community is wanting each player to have 1 million dollars given to use each from GGG.
Since the community is asking for it. GGG will do it.

Lol.

People are allowed to say " this game is lacking this or that. They are the paying customer.
In saying that thou there is limits.

Coming in here and name-calling or trash-talking a bunch of people. Sounds like OP just joined the "Toxic Community".

Exactly my thought. Hypocrisy.

Complain about complaining = you're a dumbass.
Whats the TLDR here?
A toxic company lying repeatdly to it's customers deserve backlash .

Yeah.. I remember the early PoE 1 forums.. most frienldy and helpful people I ever encountered in a games-forum.

This forum shouldn't be called "Early Access discussion" but "early access bashing" ^^

For real,

I never once posted here in years. I've been playing PoE1 since the Perandus league. Never once had anything to say on the forum. And you know what? People are so fucking entitled, it's fun. You are all complaining that a company is doing something. You want everything right now. You think that 4 months is a gigantic time without understanding that everything is happening fast for them.

Vacation? Who cares about Christmas? People don't deserve a life. Well, no PoE1? You're just piece of craps. Now, people are working on both, and is it hard? Shit, new ascendencies, new class, new gems... Those are just stupid as fuck, not enough?

You all are acting as if you have no other things to do in life. You're not offering proper feedback, you are just being mean. It's not conservative, it's going as far as threatening people sometimes. It's disgusting.

People have NO self-control. None at all. Touch some grass, I dunno. I am disgusted to see messages about PoE2 every time I play PoE1. I'm disgusted to see complaints on complaints when I play the second. People can't literally enjoy something. And, that's an EA. You know what you signed up for when you bought it. And even then, it's 30$. NO ONE ALSO FORCED YOU.

You feel it's not worth your time? Leave, please. Your voice will have so much more impact then. I love the game, I can understand the flaws, I know them. I am hoping it will improve, if it doesn't, I'll leave. But... You're all making it sound like you're doing something good when you're just going on a keyboard warrior rant. It's too much, get a grip.

In the end, it's not all the community, but the vocal part? It's insane... I can just start the trailer video 30 min' after release, it's already negative. Why? Because they released the class they said would release first. Insane.

I offered proper feedback. The fact choir of the storm Jade doesn’t apply to minions, while not being a bug and working as intended, is a killer of my free will to want to play the game.

On paper it sounds like the coolest build anyone could imagine until you get to a high enough level to find out it doesn’t work.

I feel like a lot of people are bored because they imagined more cool build viability. Even if I spend 4000 div on my minion build unless i follow a specific tunnel it’s not that good.

Also the lack of PvP is outlandish. It’s 2025. Somewhere in the everyone gets a trophy warped perception of reality timeline we all experienced developers of AARPG’s lost the plot.

It’s not that they aren’t skilled, the people who made poe2 are incredibly skilled. It’s the small things that are missing.

The small things are what keep the community playing.

If your game doesn’t have PvP then you can’t even have a PvP community.

Races are not PvP. If you think races are PvP you have lost the plot so hard I don’t think you will ever recover.

You have to understand by not having PvP the developers are telling you that they either don’t believe in it or are afraid of having to try to balance it.

If they don’t believe in it there is nothing anyone can do.

But if it’s fear of balance just tell everyone to shut the hell up and accept it for what it is, but nicer.m

These concepts aren’t advanced, the lack of transparency and the huge disappointment of paper builds not working out the way people thought are really hurting them.

Let’s not forget that the Diablo 2 PvP community kept the game alive till today.

This isn’t rocket science or solving the goldbache conjecture.

You can’t have it both ways, you can’t not have PvP and have incredibly pigeon holed end game builds. And honestly you should aim to have PvP and diverse end game builds.

You shouldn’t sacrifice one for the sake of casuals who were only ever gonna complain anyway.

If any of you worked in the restaurant industry for a little while you know EXACTLY what I mean.

If the developers want meaningful feedback tell them to send me a list of questions to answer.

You can fix all the little bugs and glitches but that won’t mean a thing if the game you made doesn’t meet the long term expectations of what would be your core community.

Unless of course all you care about is the short term gains.

If all you care about is short term games and not upsetting the status quo in the AARPG genre then yeah keep fixing the little glitches and dripping more pigeon holes for the pigeons.

I am in an interesting position in that I personally expected a lot more from the game. Not having PvP in an AARPG is a red flag. Having PvP formatted like Diablo 4 is also a red flag.

We all get that it’s not a MMORPG. But having developed and core PvP is what defines AARPG’s long term.

Response: “Diablo 2’s PvP wasn’t core to the experience nor was it developed much” correct, but at the time that was ground breaking stuff so the community itself made it core. That community of players kept the game going till today. And it’ll be going tomorrow too.

I’ll echo this one more time, if the developers want thoughtful feedback, send me a list of questions to answer.

This is just how consumers talk. If you ever worked in retail and had to engage with customers, they are unruly. People don't understand what's required the only know what they want, but they have no idea how to articulate it.
Every worked in IT Support? People will call you and just state "COMPUTER BROKEN" they don't know any better. They are uneducated.
People aren't taught any of this in school, other than to express their frustration if something is unsatisfactory.
People are basically posting threads "GAME NOT FUN" which is not going to help anybody.
It takes actual learning to understand what is good and helpful feedback, don't blame people for not attending the courses that don't exist.
It's not their fault they don't know, but blaming them and calling them a toxic community doesn't help.

If only developers could make an application free of users, then it would be perfect environment fit for a God.

I agree with the sentiment. That said, on the flipside, GGG designed a game that appeals to the most degenerate no-life players so you're going to end up with them in your community.

The attitude of the community is the reason I have no hope for the game. It's literally "git gud" and commit to 1000+ hours or go away. This hilarious idea that GGG was "forced" to release the game into early access while saying it's not actually early access, it's pre-early access, is just more trash peddling. Steamcharts -30%, -50%, -50%. Let's see how many people come back then bounce right off again after April 4th. I'm just checking in to see if they can squander their momentum even more than the darktide devs. So far, it's even worse.
