What's with all the hate?
Anyone can technically win.
There's no streamer advantage like gear donations etc.
That said, most definitely won't be on the level of someone who's no lifed the campaign on norm for 1 month straight, but who cares?
This event was created so players cannot have a chance to win. You do realize that a mode catered towards those that sit in front of a screen for 20 hours practicing and no lifing are not the majority player base right?
This event was specifically made to spit in the face of everyone who bought the game early access in good faith. The first event should be something that includes everyone with something to show that they were there. What is the point in saying "if your good enough you can win" and then 1 guy gets 1st place twice and only streamers are placing in the top spots. If an event is dominated by just streamers, it is not an event for the players, it is a sham made for streamers to gloat and have an ego inflated by GGG.
The "who cares" argument is completely ridiculous when you realize people like to be respected when they do something out of good faith. If i do a good deed and someone spits in my face then its gloves off not a "thank you kindly good sir".
GGG is just proving they have no care for the 99.99% of their players with events like this. Now events like this are fine if there is a completion reward. Does not have to be fancy. It could quite literally be a profile badge commemorating the event to show you were there but no they are just greedy and lazy and disrepectful.
Greedy. A company that has given 13 years of free content..

It is pretty much a fact that people that came from poe 1 have said they brought over all the bad things poe one had and doubled down on it. 13 years means nothing if you repeat garbage.
Also 60 bucks for just wings is greedy AF. idc if they came from a league 10 years ago, there is no justification to make wings 60 bucks but that doesn't matter as that is just cosmetic.
Also are you mad i tried it back in 2013 and did not like it and came back later to retry it? my god i must be a sinner for having opinions!

If you found the PoE1 campaign too long and too boring, what made you think PoE2 would appeal to you in the slightest?
It’s campaign, for the ‘elites’, is 6 times longer with a story that is interesting once and then just a rush to get passed to endgame.
And it’s not 60 bucks of greed just for some wings from 10 years ago, it’s a choice for you to donate 60 bucks to their company to continue working on a game you don’t like. Why would you buy them? You wouldn’t so why complain about them?

The problem is not what this race is giving us (or not giving us), it's the fact that it's here in lieu of an event that could be for the entire community. Even the Gauntlet has raffles for level threshold, old alt-art events had milestones that you could achieve, and so on.
The event is unfun by itself and unrewarding for all but a few players, it was a backwards choice, that's it.

I think this is exactly what devs wanted. They want speedruns to be a competition for the "pro" players and streamers. The casual player (even tho has the ability to participate) is supposed to be watching the best players compete on streams, you know, like in e-sports.

i feel like you might be misunderstanding my criticism. i love poe 2. i have about 800 hours in so far. i criticize because i want it to be better than slop like they seem to be heading in towards.
The campaign is not for elites either how does that make sense? as i said the cosmetics are whatever but still pretty greedy as there is nothing earnable that looks good to any degree. i will however take a step back from the greed statement as that is irrelevant tbh.
Poe 2 campaign feels so far infinitesimally better than poe 1 in my honest opinion and i did give poe 1 a fair try. I have 125 hours in poe 1 but the systems in the endgame did not feel good to me. The game forces you to follow a build guide if you want even play in the later stages as respecing is atrocious in poe 1.
