I hated the idols to start with but it's fun once you've gone deep into 1 or 2 mechanics since you can boost them way further than was ever possible with the atlas. For a one off they are fine but they are annoying to price check to sell and annoying to spend time buying and you usually have a bunch of extra shit you'd rather block off - for a regular league I'd prefer the flexibility of the atlas.

I have an easy solution for you.

Stop buying and selling Idols. It's a lot more fun that way, building up the set you want, making hard calls what 'off' content is acceptable because it has an upside you want.
Love the "anyone who disagrees with me is confused" nonsense here.

There are bonuses and downsides.

-You get less ability to completely control whats on the idols.

+You can take individual mechanics a lot further than the atlas tree.

Its not better or worse its just taste.

Yea I love this nonsense as well. Especially when no post ever said that.

Mash the clean

You could achieve the same effect with the atlas and picking your passives blindfolded, it's just not interesting buffing a load of mechanics by a small amount because the return is almost non existent. I did start off several idol sets from the quad tabs of idols I had accumulated but even then they didn't outperform the regular atlas without trading for the rarer combinations (mostly on conqueror idols)

You cannot. Because the passives are linked and tiered, you can't 'start' in delirium. You can't start in Ritual. You can't organically shift between one event to another. Once they're locked, they're locked (Save costly respecs). For example, I was running some Jun + Delirium, but intervention kept making the fog too risky early, so I was able to shift some idols around to remove that risk. This couldn't happen without serious effort and a total rethinking of the design, and couldn't happen by choice or random chance with a static tree given their desperate locations on the tree.

That these events are not physically bound to a singular location is what makes this system interesting, and in my opinion, more interesting compared to the normal version. And again, I don't think the work required to hammer this into PoE1 is a wise way to spend time, but for a fresh system with PoE2? I'd rate this as a far superior way to handle it's atlas tree.
Most players are just pretty used to the passive atlas tree by now to the point that everything new feels bad or worse instead of equal as good or better.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.
I don't really care if it's "better" or "worse". Right now, I care about it being "different" and "new", and that was what I needed at this time.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

Honestly that's the fun thing about the event. The different endgame experience along with the different classes. Makes me wish they would come up with something new instead of just minor passive atlas skill changes for once, and bring in a new and fresh system for the core game.

God I hate the idols. I just run with friends cause I don't wanna touch'em.
