The important part for you and me is to learn from our mistakes and not buy the next supporter pack...

If GGG adds the support, I'll open my wallet again...

that is very true.

this is complete bullshit tbh, allow 32:9 resolutions in a 99% uncompetetive game, if you want a RACING OR COMPETETIVE ENVIRONMENT THEN MAKE A SEPARATE CLIENT THAT HAS FIXED RESOLUTIONS, it's not that hard really.

you're alienating WAY more people than you think you are pleasing by this decision

They don't even need a separate client for that. In the race events, the first event could be played on 21:9 aspect ratio like normal. In the second and third race event it was restricted down to max 16:9. They were perfectly capable of making that restriction within the race leagues.

The scary part of that is that it shows the developers clearly believe wider aspect ratios represent a significant advantage, otherwise they wouldn't have gone out of the way to add that restriction.

And the reason they went out of their way to treat the widescreen mod as a "cheat" in the first place was probably also because of the race events. The patch that introduced that was correlated perfectly with the first race event.

We've been over many times why its a completely insignificant advantage with the wider aspect ratio, so I won't repeat all that again. I just hope the people responsible at GGG realize how crazy it is.

I personally enjoy playing competitive events like that, even though I do so exclusively for the fun of it. I did very minimal practice for the events. Didn't even finish a single practice run. And I would never do things like memorizing map layouts as I see that as a complete waste of my time. I play for fun. But I did participate in the two first races, and in the first one I finished the run in top 100 on the slowest class.

If I can finish top 100 in their event, and 8000 people downloaded the ultrawide mod, then clearly there are a lot more ultrawide people than competitive people. So what on earth are they doing.

Oh and by the way, the guy that won all three races (yep same guy won all three), he is part of the ultrawide gang. But he still won decisively despite his aspect ratio being nerfed repeatedly. It just isn't a factor compared to skill.
Do we know of anybody being banned over this already?

i guess not, yet
proud owner of an ultrawide monitor, kind of strange feeling for the first time i´m considered one step from cheating cause of that ^^

... but now something completely different:

how are the odds that there are no ultrawide monitors at ggg?

I reckon a fair amount of ultrawide users have spent enough money on their accounts to not be willing to risk a ban.

I don't even care to risk it at the moment. From what I gather from the recent patch. Most people say it sucks and is no longer fun. Just as they took away the fun from due to my monitor, they sucked the fun out of the core of the game also. Why don't they get over the pride of making a mistake and simply change things? Who's going to care? We'll all be happy if they simply fix/change what is not going well/right, etc...

And if anyone was banned on this, how would we know? I don't know if they were banned if they can post here due to that ban?
I mean, you would know. I am pretty sure a ban doesn't revoke forum writing rights. Even if it does, there is enough people that would create a new account or tell other people in community discords.
i would have risked it when the new league would have been great, but it doesnt seem to be worth it. wouldnt really care if i had bought the normal version of the game, but risking the 480$ version is not worth it, even tho i dont play anyways as of now.
From what I can tell when doing a search, I cannot find anyone who was banned on it. However, it's stated clearly that GGG is against it and will ban for it. So in opinion, should be taken seriously. Simply doing it just to "find out". Is silly, cause it will surely happen.

For myself, I'm not going to just do it and be against a rule like that just for kicks. I prefer to let their own rule, fire back at them and hurt themselves due to their own rule. On my end, I'm ok. I don't need their specific game for entertainment. As said many times over here by me and others. There's plenty of games nowadays who do support it and are fun (Last Epoch). This game in this point in time in my opinion, have neither. And what do I do with games that don't support my fun? (that's what I bought it for!) I don't play it. It sits off by itself like trash. Harsh words, but that's just the way it is. I paid for fun and they took that away from me on this silly notion I'm cheating horribly for using a piece of hardware I bought. What a sad way to run a business in my opinion. Needs better leadership. Sure there's others who buy their product who don't want any form of cheating in it. Ok, understandable. In this game, I believe that is a small number of people. And by that. How come they cannot come to something that will satisfy both? That's the real problem here overall. How can they not satisfy both sides? How is that an issue to resolve nicely? Why have they not pointed to, hey, ya'll guys wait ok? We're working on something to resolve ya'll with 32:9. We understand our position and our rule but we also understand our gamers and will work to a solution.

Why have I not heard that from GGG?^ Why do I just hear hate over the hardware I have? All I can do then is have a backlash against them and not support them at all in their future as others are choosing as well.
