Actually once Jonathan made himself known and made it known his direction was the way we were going, he's like the ultimate bad guy. He's single handedly the person trashing the game by making it tedious. We can't even level gems anymore just for an additional gotcha it's absurd.

We know nothing, aside from the official government filing that says he is gone.

Lots of things may have happened.

He has money, perhaps he is done.

He may or may not be in agreement with the direction and bailed.
He may have signed a deal when taken over, that he would stay on until x date.
He may of just really wanted ruthless to be a thing.

He really did seem like a straight up guy.
I wish him the best.

as an OG PoE 1 beta person... i find PoE 2 to be a bore.

i'm not surprised that he left.

sadly, Chris sold PoE to Tencent. when that happened it was the beginning... him leaving is the end.

hopefully he makes something new. PoE 1 was his vision and it was a fantastic game. corporate greed and tedium has made PoE 2 what it is.

if you like PoE 2, great. have fun.

Unless he says anything we'll just guess blindly.

From my POV he started getting less involved as more of POE 2 got reveled. My money's on "he didn't like POE 2 or the direction it was going in". Probably got outvoted on a lot of ideas so he just got fed up, sold his part and left.
Although, no one owes us an explanation, the silence is clearly because he left on bad terms.
