" I dont think anyone mocked the idea of vision, they mocked that his vision was not aligning at all with average player experience, suggesting he didnt really play anymore. "close your eyes and slam exalts" was a key moment that showed, ok this guy is designing PoE by recalling what it was like to play in 2013. The idea of vision is fine, but designing by a vision no one is experiencing and failing to acknowledge that or just PLAY THE GAME to see what trade or crafting is really like was the problem. |

Strange, that one of the saddest threads here is actually one of the few therads here with a somewhat positive vibe.
Thank you Chris, for everything! |

Hopefully something will be said on March 27 during the reveal. We all know Darth is just there to glaze so I don't expect aby host bringing it up.

GGG died when Chris Wilson left obviously
really sad. This was the only game left that was still any good and now it's done. |

I think Chris Wilson's and GGG'S original vision was great. A difficult game with rewarding power to your character with a good combination of passives and gear. Initially, during beta and the first few years - the drops were never great.
I think a lot of PoE players weren't playing for the drops, but playing so we could face more difficult challenges with success. Somehow along the way, it became about exalts/divines per hour. Then with "the vision" it became a lottery system with very poor rewards unless you built and played in a few limited ways. I too thank Chris Wilson and GGG for over a decade of exciting gameplay. If he has left GGG completely, then I wish him the best of luck in future endeavors. Maybe Chris can make a fishing game. He could call the game "Just Can't Fish Enough". " Agreed. If I had to pinpoint to when the change started, I'd say with implementation of movement skills + lockstep mode. That's when the speed of the game increased significantly. It wasn't about the best overall builds anymore, but started to be about the fastest ones imo. Lockstep is obviously very good for PoE, but it has its downsides. |
