Goodye Chris and thank you.

I think it was pretty clear when he stopped fronting the videos where this was headed, however I think the sentiment of this thread is spot on.

Thanks Chris! Hard to argue that PoE is the best game i've played in terms of entertainment provided absolutely peerless. You and the team the founders built up over the years created a truly unique gaming experience and while I'll be sad at its inevitable end I will always appreciate getting to take part in the crazy journey even from the sidelines.

Also a special thanks for the GDC presentation, It occupies a space in my brain all the time while i'm developing concepts to implement in my own work and was truly an inciteful look through the window. Information like this is rarely shared but its truly priceless when it is.
chris havent been involved in poe development for 3 years or so by now idk why people assume chris have left only recently

Everything in this thread is only assumption.
Why? People like to theorycraft I guess.

Could be a surprise waiting to happen, I feel like if Chris was actually leaving there would be some official post similar to Bex's departure.

As far as I know this is the first time it’s actually been posted in an official document that he is gone.

Everyone knows he stepped back from being involved in development because he said as much, but had still been CEO.

Excilcon was like a year and a half ago. You're just misinformed and wondering why everyone else isn't as misinformed.

BTW large corporations don't leave former employees legally in the CEO position for 3 years. Let alone announce them with official capacity on stage at a convention a year and a half after they left. It opens you up to lawsuits insurance problems and shenanigans by the former employee. They do sometimes have them on an exit, transition or retirement contract.

There's a legal filing with the NZ government showing Chris is no longer CEO of GGG as of late January.

Incidentally (or not) only a week or two before the incendiary news announcement where Johnathan apologized for ignoring POE1 and told us to expect the ignoring to continue for a few months.

Probably the most out of the blue uncharacteristic news announcement GGG ever made and now it makes SO much more sense.
Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.

I wouldn't be surprised if Chis opened his own studio soon. Maybe even with investment from mr. X
Not really sure what to think about this, but chris = gigachad

Goodbye & thank you Chris,

As an enjoyer of poe 1 & 2, and having had the privillege of being able to play these games a lot, I just want to thank you for your contribution in bringin this game to life. It truly has been an amazing experience, no other game comes even close.

I am saddened to see you go, and recently found out how the company was bought out by tencent, which filled me with uncertainty about this great game's future.

I understand you though, and do not blame you for your decision, I hope the terms of your leave were good. I still have faith that this game will continue to become even better than what it currently is, and wish you all the best in what is, to me, a well-earned retirement, or whatever else you may choose to do next.

Thanks for all the entertainment! Thanks for all the memories & friends I made in this game! Thank you Chris.

Good luck in the future.
Why did he just leave? That wasn't what we had agreed on.
