I don't know what to do, maybe I should look for something PoE-like

Hello everyone, happy new year to all, yes it's already February but it doesn't matter i wish you and your families a year and the following ones full of good vibes and good health.

I don't know where to post something like this so I will give it a go here.
This isn't a rant or anything critique from me towards PoE, it's about me, I love PoE, i truly do, I have over 400 hours in PoE 1 scattered over periods of time. I love the setting of the game, there's something dark and gritty about it but along the way I always loose interest, leagues come and go and I always get the feeling that i fall behind and can't keep up with the other people, I have never achieved to reach the end game map bosses like Uber Elder or Sirus... I just fall short so to speak.

I have played a bit of PoE 2, bac k in the day when it was announced I was excited for it, the screenshots felt very interesting and the atmosphere of the game seemed to have picked it up from PoE 1 but man i lost interest faster than I ever did compared to the first game.

I have to admit that I haven't kept updated with the news and what's the future for this game, especially for PoE1, from what i understand the upcoming league was delayed? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
On another note has GGG said what they will do with PoE1? I honestly think that if they end up their support for that game they will be doing a huge mistake, I bet that many players still or will want at some point go back to PoE1 even if it is for nostalgia.

I apologize for this long post, it wasn't meant to be this long but i love Path of Exile, i always like this kind of hack and slash game, it has crafting even if people consider it useless or not meta, we can have our little hub or hideout to chill, it has those delve things in the mines, i love that and never did them, there's so much content that one can do in PoE1 to keep one satisfied that i hope that GGG doesn't simply shut it down, I hope they respect their legacy and where they came from.

For me as a player I don't know what to do, I don't know what is going to happen with PoE1, is PoE complex sometimes I feel overwhelmed by it? Yes but it's part of it's charm.
I was hopping that some people people could give me insightful thoughts about this, are there games similar to PoE? I don't ask that it is a copy cat of PoE or that it has the online component to it but something similar to this game and also good at it?
Or maybe at the end of it all i come to realize that I belong in the standard league, maybe I will feel less pressured that way.

In any case i needed to say this, thank you if you managed to endure to the end. I wish you a great day!

There are no good PoE like games.
Why are you searching for something else, given that you only have 400 hours of PoE1?

You start to "feel" the flow of the game after a few thousand hours, you're still early to quit PoE1 because you haven't really started it xD
I'm like 7k hours PoE1 HC-only

this issue becomes an issue based on your mindset.

personally i feel that poe1 evolved into an unbalanced mess you need to have a super good build+gear as the minimum requirement in order to get far.

as someone who HATES following meta and doing their own thing, the only thing i can say is you need to manage your expectations.

POE rewards players who multiply their damage in specific ways. some skills are better than others. some can make you undying. the problem is if you dont hit the checkboxes, you simply lock yourself out of content.

trying to do your own thing is one way that can happen. having less time to play can also lead to that.

thus you really need to manage your expectations. not being able to kill the ubers is fine. its not meant for the casuals.

as for recommending other games.

undecember and torchlight infinite are the games that are closest to poe in term of game mechanics where skills are supported by supports.

a newer game on the way is Dragonkin: The Banished

thats about it for POE likes

if you want diablo likes, then you've got grim dawn, and last epoch. not to forget diablo 4 (lols).

if you want zoom zoom action, torchlight, last epoch and d4 can fulfill your itch but you need to gear up first to get your build going.

tbh. i hate it but yeah i agree. the others i recommended are good alternatives but poe1 has a lot of polish compared to the rest.

tho the rest do have certain things i prefer over poe1.

Hello and thank you for your reply.
I wanted to ask something, if i throw myself at the standard league is that ok? I say ok in the sense that is it fine to play PoE in standard league? By doing so will i be loosing something compared to the current league?

I always wondered this, If i create a character in the Standard league and i level up, improve my build, start getting into maps and bosses will i loose that character at some point or will i have to start all over as we do in the live leagues?

I tried to look for some, above a person mentioned a few that could be similar but i think you are right, i think that nothing is like PoE and in a way I'm glad for that.

Hello there, how are you?
Thanks for the reply.

I think that you are right but i also believe that i should try a different approach. I think that my place is in Standard league or at least i should give it a go.

I wanted to ask this maybe you know, has anything changed in PoE1 recently? Does the game run better now? I'm asking because i have read somewhere that they are using the same engine that they use for PoE2 or that the engine was improved.

Standard has characters from 1.0 still in there. To be fair the gradual tree changes have left some of them needing rebuilding, and some mechanics may not work as they used to, but you should not need to "start over". The character is there with its gear, its levels, its stash... and every other league character you've played and all their stuff too.
Can't say if this will always be the case, but that's the idea and it's been that way for 11 years or more since the first leagues began.

Hello there Varana, how are you doing?

But i don't understand, for example, when a league joins or goes to Standard what happens to our characters?

In terms of builds is there a website or something for Standard leagues?
