Real life simulator .

Not really, in real life scam is not tolerated and will result in fines and prison times (ie bannable offense).
You learned a valuable lesson. Take your time with big trades and pay attention. This is why I loved runescape before they ruined it with the grand exchange. People learned many valuable lessons through trade and armor trimmings. Also why I don't want an auction house in PoE or PoE2.

Sadly there is nothing to be done.
My advice to anyone trading at a value above 5 div is double-check, triple-check, quadruple-check, and vocalise the checks aloud to yourself.

When a friend of mine goes on a long vacation, she tugs the door 7 times to make sure it's definitely locked. I think this rule applies to expensive PoE trades as well.

No roasting here OP, I'm very sorry this has happened to you.

Yeah right ...
Only scammers that end up in prison are those who scammed rich people .

This is good advice. On top of this:
- I have a screenshot of the item I am supposed to get on the second screen. And I will go over every single line before accepting
- If its a big cost thing and I feel anxious -> I stream for someone on disc to double confirm with me that all is correct

If the seller stresses u -> do not trade with them.

I usually place the currency into the window right away, so they see I am srs about the trade and then I take all the time I need to check.
On the other hand, if someone buys something for me and they placed the currency in, I will wait however long they need to check and confirm.

In hindsight all of this is certainly great rules to keep for yourself.

This guy was pretty calculated, the Astramentis was unidentified with +5 to all attributes as the implicit, he went through the trouble of buying unidentified strugglescream amulets with the same +5 attribute implicit - when you hover over them the only thing that differentiates them is the artwork, which is honestly even similar if you haven't spent a ton of time looking at both items.

It sucks there isn't some sort of built in check that says you're good to go and this is the item you've inquired about, (for trades initiated from the trade site) - it gives the seller a purple ring around the item in the trade tab, but lets them grab and place in whatever item they want with no internal check. Mostly innocent, unsuspecting gamers can lose their entire in game worth (like me) to some slight user error magnified by another players coldly-calculated scam and abuse of the trade system as it is.

Like the other here said - it rly sucks and I feel sorry for u.

To the last block u said: I do actually think this could be a great idea and since it allrdy partially in the game we should ask for it in feedback. Make the purple thing around an item also visible for the buyer.

BUT if an item gets switched out - afaik I know u cant just click accept. U always have to hover over it first, to unlock the accept button.

also I forgot to mention this:
USE THE "IGNORE PLAYER"-function on the trade website!!!!
Not just the scammers but use it on all the ppl trying to bait ppl/have insanly to low prices and never reply.
If you check a specific item daily u will very fast start to reconise names of ppl, clearly not being there to rly sell it. they undercut by huge margin and never respond no matter how much spam they get.
filter these ppl out with "ignore player" button and gg

what I dont know and maybe someone else knows more about this:
does it also block these players from sending u whispers? does anyone know this?

Yeah it'd be a band-aid on the overall problem of lack of proper instant buyouts, but seems like an easy solution to remedy scamming and is just a decent quality of life thing for trade as it is. (same as adding it for the seller in their tab, I think we all like this)

When you give an unfavorable order into the currency change the game makes you aware with a warning message - this kind of check would be much appreciated for trade

"Warning: This isn't the item you've inquired about. You may be accepting an unfavorable trade. Items you've inquired about will be outlined in purple in the trade window"

some shit like this, idk they can word it however they want but seems like it could fix a lot of the shady stuff happening on trade while they sort how to streamline the process overall.
ye I like these ideas. do you start a Feedback/suggestion thread? or should I?
I personally believe this is a fantastic idea!
