A Message to Path of Exile 1 Players

As a long time PoE player who maintains a build and for whom league launches are a highlight, this is an (inevitable) disappointment. Okay, anyone who was watching and listening knew this would happen, but it's still a sad day.

PoE is still the best ever ARPG. PoE 2 is not it, and can't be for a few years *at least*. If you know anything about game dev, you know Jonathan can't possibly keep the promises he is making in regards to PoE 1, genuine though they may be. I think he suspects that too. GGG will have to pick one game or the other eventually, and it's quite clear which one that is going to be.

As soon as they announced that PoE 2 was no longer an upgraded PoE 1 but its own game, those of us who understood knew this was going to happen.

I'm not mad. I knew the golden age of PoE couldn't last - these things never do - and it was truly glorious to be able to experience it. I knew at the time it wouldn't last and to make the most of it, so I did. It's still a bummer to be here, though.

I don't think my options will change anything but will say it anyway.

I love both of the games they are different to each other and I can definitely see myself rotating between poe1 and poe2 league as the only games I will play.

But now I want my 3.26, and since it won't happen soon, give us a temp league. Something to let us play poe1 but won't use most of your resources. We are probably a minority of players that play poe1.


And lastly I miss the time Bex was in GGG. You guys were much better with information to the players when she was there. Please hire someone to post news, so we get more insight. This would not have happened if we had the old GGG's insight of their development.

Firstly, there's no way to be bigger without increase the team. If you want to grow, you have to contract new devs to do the new game. The right thing to do is: get the PoE1 team back to work on PoE1, and contract new devs to work on PoE2.

With this decision, the staff literally said: let's abandon PoE1, damn it all! The players will change to PoE2 after all, so we don't need care about PoE1.

What happens? Players are mad and feeling abandoned by GGG and the PoE2 is a really shit, with bad mechanics, so much bugs and far a lot to stay ready.

Listen to me: bring back PoE1 team to PoE1 and contract new devs to work exclusively on PoE2. Don't abandon us, or we will abandon you!

I feel like transparency was the correct answer here and I absolutely understand how projects can run away from us sometimes. We know whats going on now and it's perfectly acceptable given the holidays and the launch, I look forward to seeing it all come together down the road.

Manage 2 games at the same time is no easy task, but no matter what happens, GGG always have my support!

PoE2 should be the main focus, and i know PoE1 players will hate me saying that because sunk cost fallacy, but it's true.

Wow I’m so disappointed right now, If not annoyed. Here is Jonathan thinking that poe2 is the money grabbing game for GGG. Letting you in on a secret, most people are playing poe2 because there is 0 content in poe1. So, let me ask the community to stop playing poe2 please? That way maybe he will wake up. Jesus. Now I can’t even plan vacation because a new league might pop up in a year, or maybe never.
