PoE 1 Appreciation thread. Reply with one thing that made you fall in love with it.
It's not PoE 2.

the ability to play a game that is both single-player and multi-player.
Long story short, we were three friends whow anted to play a game together but with the possibilty to progress each one on our own way because we were not always available at the same times. PoE1 gives us the opportunity to start together and then progress at our own pace, playing different builds as we were each interested in different classes and skills, and help each other to stuff our char and progress against act and endgame bosses. I'd also like to say a few words about the community, which has long been (and still is for a while) very welcoming and caring overall. Faut arrêter ces conneries de nord et de sud ! Une fois pour toutes, le nord, suivant comment on est tourné, ça change tout! Last edited by Talamor1#0630 on Jan 21, 2025, 2:58:52 AM

A clip of someone playing Flicker strike.took me some years to pull it of on a high level.
Hello, this is just a reading/writing account for my workplace.

Build divercity.
Even though i mostly play one archetype (minions), there is a big list of options within the cathegory. And even more when you see the individual approach. There are a dozen BIS items tyhat may look the same on the characters, but even in the stalest meta there still is room for the build and gear divercity. |

Freedom, the 1 thing poe2 is missing completely

Crafting, exploring a wide variety of builds, a large and interesting skill tree, and a mapping system where i could choose what maps to run and mechanics to do, all of which POE turd lack and will probably continue to lack.

I love the non meta aspect of it. It's always been a free for all. You can build whatever and, if you spend enough time in PoB to theorycraft, make it work. My level 94 slayer used power siphon this league. It's utter nonsense and I love it!

blasting maps on my herald stacking wander for the first time is probably one of my favourites. Before they nerfed it ofcourse

PoE 2 is the better game. PoE 1 allowed them to make it.

An unorthodox journey, but mine started like eight years ago, maybe more. . . I had a friend that was obsessed with the game, and I decided to play. It was the wrong friend to introduce it to me, though, because he was just clowning on my build the whole time making fun of me for not being any good. I was playing a Shadow, using different weapon sets, switching between them and probably doing crap damage and having terrible defenses (Sword and board + Bow). . . I remember not really understanding the story, the game, or the mechanics. I was also very much an ARPG noob. Long story short, I didn't get it, and got to ACT 3 or so (which was close to end game at that time). I stopped, and never looked back.
Almost a decade later, and I'm finally starting to appreciate ARPGs, and then got back into the game during the Ancestral League. I really enjoyed the game, though I never understood late game, or how to do a lot of the league mechanics. Still, I managed to beat the campaign and played a little bit of the Necropolis league, and then got into the new changes in Settlers. I think Settlers finally got the game to sink its teeth into me, and I understood more of the mechanics, and end game. With POE2, I finally am starting to understand the game, end game, and how to build a strong build without relying on guides (something I never wanted to do and never did). It may have been an unorthodox journey, it had its ups and downs, but I have now come to the game, fully embraced it, on my own accord and it feels good. I am loving PoE2, and to be honest, the story, the lore, the gameplay, also makes me want to go back and keep playing PoE1. Just two very cool games that have so much going for them, including player agency and creativity. Love it. |
