What part wait doesn’t this community understand.
" Cool story. What's your excuse for why they no longer support their customers? 60+ days waited for many people, now. Game hasn't even been out 60 days. |

" if you're talking about customer service. i cant really talk about that, and i m with you on that. they need to get those tickets sorted. what i can say is theyre good (based on my previous experience) quite responsive. but the stuff i needed help with was all easy stuff and probably was during non peak period. i m pretty sure theyre swamped up by a lot of tickets especially with the data breach thing which is totally on them too. i cant defend them if their customer service is taking too long for you but i do know at least one other forumer whose ticket is kinda "forgotten about". so yeah ggg whats up with that???? " sorry almost forgot about your reply as i saw busy and couldnt watch YT clips while "busy". anyway i had a gander. in the first vid "keep maintaining POE" in the second vid is along the lines of "maintain it as much as possible" if i m missing anything please tell me the specific quote and time stamp. in the 2 that you gave you can see how chris is very careful to just mention "maintain". he never actually promised anything along the lines of "poe2 wont effect poe1". Chris Wilson's presentation from GDC 2019
www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM_5S55jUzk 0:30 - Chris Wilson explains that PvE games have a difficult time growing their playerbase over time. Gives examples of PoE's initial decline from 2013-2015. 7:30 - "We wanted to run this as a game as a service. This is something we knew back in 2006..." "We looked at Diablo 2 and saw they had 10s of thousands of people coming back per realm for each one of their ladder resets. People were excited to jump back into that game for the fresh economy and keep playing even though the game was not being substantially updated at that time" Chris goes on to explain that it was their intention to add content every week. IF D2 could maintain player counts with econ resets, then doing the same while actually adding new content would allow PoE to grow over time. 9:00 - PoE beta January 2013 had 1.5 million sign ups. This is a side tangent I'm going to go on because I see a lot of people (here, reddit and elsewhere) say that PoE 2's beta has a far larger reception than PoE 1's beta. Now, one could argue that 1 million+ 'paid' signups for PoE2 is more impressive than a Free 2 Play game and I would agree that it's harder to get interest in a game that costs money. But the notion that PoE 1's beta was some small thing by comparison is totally incorrect. There is also a large (admittedly unknown) number of people who have access to PoE 2's beta from spending nearly $500 USD on PoE1 which is more of a testament to the first game than the second. 11:00 - "We learned that you have to bundle these economy resets with significantly marketable content like new characters, new acts, all that kind of stuff because then the players and journalists will want to talk about it." 12:35 - "It's great running this game as a service... We're on top of the world and we're finding that releasing an expansion bumps the player numbers up"... "The key question is: what is the cadence and size we need to hit for these Path of Exile expansions?" 17:20 - Chris's rationale for not doing balance changes mid-league. Again, a side tangent but many people here question why not do this--This is the answer (Like it or not, it's not an arbitrary decision made by GGG). 19:30 - GGG decides to shift to a rigid, predictable content release cycle of 13 weeks to ensure players know when to come back to the game. Chris tells this lesson from Kripparian's point of view as a streamer/content creator: If you miss your regular schedule, people will find other things to fill their time with and they might not come back. 20:10 - "Now the key philosophy here is: Players will stop playing your game. That's unavoidable"... "The key thing is to give them a lot of opportunity to re-engage and that means they have to really clearly know when they are next coming back. It is inexcusable for a player to be able to leave your game without knowing the date they are returning to it--As far as we are concerned with this" 23:45 - 29:14 - Chris goes over how they target every type of PoE player in their marketing campaign for an upcoming league. That's an important piece of context: Chris is saying that PoE players are defined and categorized by each type of content that goes into a league update. It's not designed regarding standard players. And considering Standard receives all of its updates downstream of temp leagues going core; it's a little contradictory to even suggest that standard is isolated and separate from temp leagues. Just to recap, this presentation is titled: Designing Path of Exile to Be Played Forever. A presentation wherein Chris Wilson talks for 45 minutes about how/why GGG's vision was always to continually add new content to their game and grow their playerbase over time and that their mechanism for achieving that goal was refining content updates into what would become to be known as the 13 week content cycle. One day they will have to come out and explain what is happening. So be patient, whether it is good or bad for Path Of Exile fans, we will know in time what is going to happen.
