looks like PoE 2 will have killed PoE

It seems difficult for some of you to understand that POE 2 is in "development" to compare it to POE which has 12 years of added content.

How long do you think PoE Deuce has been "in development?"

Chris Wilson announced PoE 2 (in its original concept as an expansion, and not a separate game) at Exilecon in 2019. Development did not start at that moment; I would estimate that at least two years had already gone into initial development. Furthermore, we know from interview footage with Jonathan Rogers that treating Poe 2 as a separate game was decided about a year after that initial announcement.

So, the game currently in EA has been in development for at least eight years. ='[.]'=

i mean it was kinda obvious, when they stopped making 4 league per 1, i knew something was up, for me poe2 is too half baked i just cant enjoy this game

RIP to my favorite game of all time. Had a blast. Onto other things! (def not poe2) <3

+1 killed their current playerbase for POE 1 wish them luck with POE 2 but can't see the point of continuing to purchase supporter packs after this
we weren't the prettiest, but at least we were loyal.

I with them all the best with their newfound playerbase. Hopefully they stick around for 10 years instead of doing what they've been doing, which is hopping from game to game playing with their shiny new toy.
Poe2 made me appreciate poe1 more, gieb 3.26
More chances that poe1 will end poe2.

If the core playerbase bails, then it is very likely.

Now it is carried by tourists, but let's see how the long term slog of the campaign and endgame will be received league after league. Might end up with no PoE at all in the future
yeah my journey in poe seems to have come to an end, it was a good 13 years, sadly they decided to spit on the old playerbase, sell their shares and make tencents casual cashcow poe2 instead.

That same example applies to Path Of Exile. The game had just three acts and nothing else when it was released. And it would also take many years of development.

Over the years, content has been added and now the content of POE 2 is compared to a game with 13 years of content and as many years of development.

So we should be more reasonable with POE 2, it is only an EA and it still has a long way to go before it comes out, in 6 years we will talk about content and we will be able to compare a mature game.

Can we not compare a EA released by basically an indie dev studio with no prior epxerience in the ARPG field to one released from the studio that has 13 years of experience in that field? You dont get to release a sequal of a game and repeat the same mistakes you already did in the first one. Werent people making fun of D4 because of this? How is it ok here? Im actually baffled how are so many people ok with paying for GGG to reinvent the wheel again

PoE2/10
