The 3 easiest Div factories all have 1 thing in common

They all rely on developer ineptitude

1st most profitable way to play since release? Dupers/exploits

2nd most profitable? Currency scammers who prey on new players not knowing how to use currency exchange

3rd? Trade scammers who swap currency just hoping to catch someone rushing.

Half the posts in trade channels have been currency scammers in day 1. Post an item worth over 30d and over half your trade requests will be from someone trying to currency swap. GGG has blatantly allowed this there is no hope of it being addressed so more and more people will do it.

1. Dupers/exploiters get banned.

2. How can you even scam on the currency exchange? It tells you value of stuff and even if you where to accidentally list it for wrong price there's no way for a scammer to guarantee he will be the one to buy it.

3. If you get scammed that way its your own fault

Flipping items =/= scamming. Learn to price what you have - that is also a part of a game if you choose to play trade.

And if you think that dupes/exploits will go unpunished, then I suggest you give them a try and report back.

Maybe that was a bit to harsh, but you have to hover over everything and if people change currency you have to check again, should tell you somethings up.

I lost 3 div listing currency incorrectly when I first started playing on console. Never felt like "I'd been scammed" though. Just felt like I was being dumb, and I probably made someone's day.

I do feel the UI could have been a little more forgiving, but in the end, it is still my fault.

i m kinda sensitive on the topic. even tho i've never been scammed. the nearest i've been to being scammed on poe is a dude switched out a starforge and placed a voidforge instead back when starforges rolled for 500% damage, but i noticed immediately.

the reason why it triggers me is because of 2 reasons:

1. people who victim blame scam victims rather than acknowledge that the trade system is a problem/allows scams

2. GGG allows such scams to happen. this is on 2 levels. the first is the trade system being over 10 years old and it works more or less similarly to how it used to be. and it works in a way which allows for switch scams. the player definitely SHOULD check, but a better thing to do is to simply automate to prevent any scams at all. the old trading system can be retained for manual trades tho. the second level is GGG's "if you get scammed we wont do anything about it" policy. you're not allowed to name/shame scammers also and even if you have video proof you got scammed, they'd not do anything about it.

this makes ggg complicit to a certain extent. there are also rumors of ggg staff being friendly with known scammers but thats just hearsay.

in any case, ggg is fine with their players getting scammed.

i always considered 'scamming' as part of the lore. you are convicts/terrible ppl in this game. you are not friends as far as the lore is concerned. what i actually have beef with is the campaign resurrect. the contrast to act2 bandit PK in the old one is fucked up tbh.

you know what?

i m with you on that! thats actually the most interesting take on scams as part of the lore i've ever heard.

You're not a victim.

Victim would be someone who against their will suffers an issue.
You only suffer from not checking your trade window before clicking accept, that's not being a victim, it's just being stupid, sorry to say

What should GGG do to solve your laziness issue? have customer support do your trades for you?
