Endgame is unplayable for casual players

After one week trying to progress on the Atlas Map, I came to the conclusion, if you are not a professional, there is no way for a casual player to progress.

Death is extremely punitive:

* Reset map
* Remove perks of the map
* Loss of Waystone
* Loss of experience (you literally regress)

also

* Gear inferior to Cruel Act 3

Unlimited unplayable endgame is worse than no endgame.

I would also quote Raxxanterax, that last points of Ascensions are almost impossible to get.

I would have liked to know before starting PoE2.

Defeating pinacle bosses is not mandatory.

For last ascension, if you're level 90+, it should be easy to defeat Trialmaster. Plan your build properly, for various stages of the game. We don't have many guides right now, so you need to adapt. Make a starter that can carry you to T15 maps on a budget, and farm more once you get there. Don't expect to do T15 maps with act 2 gear, most of us grinded hundreds of low tier maps before reaching T15.

Penalties in a game greater than the reward are a really bad idea, which is how death XP in maps works currently. Especially if you die early in a map.

Developers could change it to be:
XP earned in a map is only recieved on completion.

or:

Reduce Map XP to 50% and a bonus of 50% on completion.

This turn a penalty (Negative) into a reward (Positive). Your level progress never goes backwards, it can only be slowed.

casual doesnt mean you have to be bad at the game. Those are two separate things. You can play poe 1 standard for 0/10 difficulty game.

Well it does not technically "mean", but it is kind of an unspoken rule.

You cannot have the game accessible for every stupid choice that can be made, and still make it a challenge for optimal gameplay.

It is not a thing.

And as a result you have "casuals" that sit in act 2 opening groups "HELP WITH X", and at the same time you have people clearing stacked delirium breaches with 1000% magic find.

How do you even compare those?

Let people decide what they want.

Make a casual "difficulty" for people who have a job, kids and a lot of other responsibilities where you can progress and find good stuff with a playtime of 1-2 hours per day.

And make a pro "diffculty" for people who have plenty of time and invest 12 hours per day.

And, besides, I really wonder who finds it interesting to spend hours optimizing maps to get good loot. I just want to slay monsters and craft stuff, but I can only do that in a meaningful way by crafting idiotic waystones with the right mods before....

POE is not for casual players. People have spammed the forums with this message for years. POE2 just made this fact more obvious. Join the intended audience and stream your gameplay 12+ hours a day while giving up everything else including your health.

Bonus drops will come with each "D4 BAD" statement you utter during playing.

I dunno what this meme is. A pair of tri res boots is 200 Divines on Standard. And all we have is the post-nerf league mechanics for crafting.

I can only reply in the same way. Go play poe 1 non hc league for 0/10 difficulty if you cry about any challenge in the game.
