Well, that's just false.

2013:
Spoiler

Granted, there were some outliers back then, yes, but GGG have since doubled down on the pricing. It's when they started adding armour sets is when the prices started skyrocketing. Even back then, a full set was like $42. Pretty much every new weapon effect since is now $18 minimum. Even adjusted for inflation, they are a little more expensive today. Though the quality has also gone up, to be fair.

The ridiculous prices for some things, like the Lightning Scorpion, were for the mega whales, same as we have them now. Problem is, the average cost of MTX has gone up by quite a bit, because people keep buying them.

Is that why armor packs alone are $42.00 or more?

Seems weird to me. I mean, if these prices were like 1/5 of what they are, I could see myself spending more money (than the $0.00 I'm spending now). I could see myself throwing $100, right now, if I felt like it got me far.

But it doesn't.

It's not like they have to keep producing these assets. They already did that part. Now they're just having an automated system send people the lines of code to enable using those assets on their character. Some of these skins and effects are nice, but there's no way they're multi-million dollar assets. If you wanted to kit out a character with skins and spell effects, it would cost you about $500, maybe more.

Nobody finds this crazy? Or is this a popular topic?

When you realize dragon platebody ornament kit wasn't introduced until 2010. Also using RS3 graphics

At least there was an effort, kinda

that's not the point of the meme. it's to show the instant gratification through MTX shops instead of advocating for players to obtain cool items through dungeons, end-game bosses, PVP content, etc.

I understood the point in the meme. I enjoy pointing out failures.

The prices have always been this way, and lightning scorpion is evidence of that. Back then, it was considered expensive and now it's still considered expensive. My point is that nothing has changed in that regard and it's always been the opinion.
