customize gender and appearance

I think i saw them say they would add this eventually. I never understood why people care in an isometric game personally, but hey you do you.

OK but others have expressed that they would like it, why would just you not caring invalidate that?

I can assure you - out of the seven-digit yearly active players that Path of Exile II has, there are very considerably more people than just Valandhir#3958 who don't care about the gender or appearance of their characters in an ARPG in which vast swathes of the community play 1) with most game client sounds (incl. dialogue) muted, and, 2) zoomed out as far as possible.

Additionally - assuming that a company's human resources and budget are finite, it is perfectly legitimate for people to respond to suggestions to say they do not believe that a given suggestion represents a good prioritisation of those resources. If you believe it reasonable that people respond to say they support an idea - and I will assume that you do - then it is only fair to likewise allow others to respond to do the opposite. Otherwise the forum devolves into a worthless echo chamber.

One of my concerns whenever this particular suggestion rolls around is that I generally don't believe the people supporting the idea truly understand the depth of what they are requesting. If GGG were to double overnight the number of models & rigs usable by people playing PoE II, they would need to both go back and update all existing MTX - a process they are already in the middle of, and have been for several years - and spend significantly more time & effort when implementing all future relevant MTX. GGG makes a non-trivial proportion of their income from selling cosmetic armour sets to people. Anything that impedes how frequently they can churn out new ones - while admittedly far from being existential for the company - nevertheless hits their bottom line.

It is worth noting that, when GGG decided to double the number of playable classes, they explicitly chose to come up with a contrived in-universe explanation for why e.g. the Witch and Sorceress would just so happen to use the same model and the same rig. So, even when GGG are looking at a headline feature, they are still ardently attempting to get out of needing to double the number of models & rigs their MTX need to support unless it is absolutely unavoidable.

I fully agree with Valandhir#3958; while this is a good-faith suggestion and there is nothing wrong with people desiring it, it would be ruinous in terms of GGG's artists' productivity. Weighing up how strongly and how widespread this desire is held versus the negative impacts it would have on GGG and their finances, I don't believe it would be sensible for them to act on it.
Having spent thousands of euros on Path of Exile over the years, I will not be further supporting it financially until and unless GGG resumes offering Technical Support.

Absolutely true and well said. Pretty much every case that I'm against a suggestion is because it always comes with an implied cost that the suggestor often doesn't acknowledge.
It's not an MMORPG it's an ARPG. Think of it like a fighting game. You are playing their character, not yours. You can make any build on any character to an extent. If you don't like the gender of one, pick an adjacent one with the gender you like.
Each character is a distinct person in the world with a personal quest and culture tied to their class.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with something like a sorceress being female or a warrior being male.

Stop being a petulant child.
Well what if I wanna be a they/them hunt, don't wanna be a hunter or huntress, I identify as neither >:( I wanna be a hunt-it

But in all seriousness, theres a reason you can't customize, and its the same reason this game won't be released untill 2027 lol

The amount of animations they need to do, add another gender? double the work...

Some people like the fact that classes have very unique identities.
Why are you trying to invalidate their feelings? Are you a bigot?
You won't see anything of your character model after you dress up in equipment and/or cosmetic mtx's, what's the point anyway?
