I feel like I’m working in African gold mines for $1 a month. (Drop issue)

I’ve played the game for over 190 hours, and during this time, I haven’t received a single usable item drop. The game doesn’t reward me for the time and effort I’ve invested, so I’m at the point of quitting due to the lack of motivation.

Look, I’m not expecting god-tier items, but I’m talking about not even getting an item that’s usable. How is it possible to not get a single item worth using in over 190 hours? I have +120% rare item find and several atlas buffs active. I plan to try crafting, but even items worth crafting are extremely rare, and when I do try, it’s almost always 100% garbage. From what I understand, there are no usable item drops in the game; the system forces you into crafting, and even then, crafting a single quality item with orbs collected over 50-100 hours isn’t guaranteed.

I’m a working person, and this game’s drop/item system seems designed for people who are unemployed and have no social life. After coming home from work, I play almost all evening, pouring all my free time into the game, yet I get no motivation or reward in return. My time feels wasted.

I know many people will respond negatively and try to tear me apart—it usually happens—but this is my personal experience. I want to be rewarded in a game where I’ve spent more than 190 hours. All I’m asking for is to get item drops that are at least worth using

This "game" is GPU hungry musical plug-in to POE trade site.
And it stinks of RMT.
Just put 10 bucks to start grind-trade cycle.
I will bless you with a 100% serious response friend. You should have stopped long before 190 hours. The endgame obviously isn't anywhere near good enough to play that long. I don't know if you play a lot of games or just have addictive tendencies, but you can in fact put a game down once you feel done with it. The idea that you should keep going forever is a corpo mind trick that's been played on the general nerd populace.

Great feedback. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I can kinda relate, that the reduction of loot (compared to PoE1) can leave a bitter taste. At first I liked, that the screen feels more "clean", even though it wasn't a problem in PoE1 as well thanks to loot filters, but 120 hours I more and more realized, that there are not alot of "reward mechanics" going on. When I did the trial the first time, I went for the silver and gold keys, because I expected great loot from these chests. I even took some risks to get them, like getting a bad affliction. But when I opened these chests, it didn't even give me a rare.

The only drop I think gets dropped "sufficient" are exalted orbs. They drop regulary, but they alone are not worth so much, if you don't have other important orbs as well. Divine orb is the most important one next to exalted, because if you have the rights mod, but bad tiers, divine can still make something good out of the item. But I haven't found a single one and even if I did, I would certainly use it for trade (worth 80 exalteds right now). This is something that certainly still needs alot of tweaking. If crafting is the goal in PoE2, then orb drops should be WAY more common. And not just exalteds, but also regals, alc, divines. Because with the current crafting system, which is RNG based, we have to expect to waste alot of orbs before we get something good. And that's something GGG clearly said in their presentation of PoE2, something like "we raised the drop chance of orbs significantly, so that players can craft their gear more consistently". Right now, this simply doesn't work. Trade is still the better option if I want gear progression.

And these reward mechanics is one of the reasons, why some players keep playing. It gives some dopamine, especially when it happens after overcoming a big challenge.

+1

I'm playing this because there was no league in Poe-1 and because I paid to play it, but you're absolutely right, this game mistreats people and makes you waste your time with no worthwhile reward. Only those who make maps and use others to use MF are "succeeding", the rest are left to eat their snot.
Guess you don’t check vendors or pick anything up then

Got usable things before they even changed the drop rules

The game stinks of RTM, very true. And they even send private messages. This already makes me suspicious, because with harmless comments they have no qualms about silencing for months and in a new game, Poe-2. And they don't even respond when you ask them to remove it. But the RTM doesn't get silenced, why?
