The Market CURRENCY MANIPULATION by BOTS and Currency Sellers is INSANE

I want to address an extremely concerning issue that is currently plaguing the trade economy: blatant currency manipulation using massive sell walls to artificially inflate Divine prices. This practice mirrors illegal market manipulation tactics seen in crypto and the stock market.

Here’s what’s happening:
Certain players, bots, and currency sellers are placing massive sell walls at rates like 1:48.33 Divine:Chaos. For example, I’ve observed a massive sell wall sitting at 196,373 stock—an absurd amount no regular player would hold. This manipulates the trade market because players trying to exchange chaos for divines assume this price is the new norm.

As more players start trading at the inflated price, these manipulators gradually move the sell wall higher, forcing others to continue buying at increasingly inflated rates. It’s a vicious cycle:

The sell wall creates an artificial "floor price" for Divines.
Regular players feel forced to comply and trade at these inflated rates.
The manipulators then move the wall up, pushing prices even higher.

This is not natural supply and demand—it’s market manipulation, plain and simple. In real markets like stocks, this behavior would be illegal. In crypto, it’s also widespread but highly unethical.

The result? Fair players who rely on a functioning economy get hurt, while bots and manipulators profit endlessly.

GGG, this needs to be addressed. Whether through stricter bot detection, limits on massive trades, or improvements to the trade system, action needs to be taken to stop this predatory manipulation.

check out the option flow data in the stock market and dark pools. the entire stock market is manipulated to high heaven.

same thing in your example (resources and bots). it's a big club and retail isn't in it. it will eventually happen to any supply and demand system when whales get involved, sadly.

this can happen easily in poe2 because GGG hastily implemented the currency exchange WITHOUT balancing gold fees or gold sinks.

it worked well in settlers because there was tons of gold sinks.

gold is plentiful in poe2. just sell random crap and you will have a lot of gold.

imho, the best thing ggg can do to combat this right now is to inflate the gold costs. make currency exchange cost exorbant amount of gold. since there are no current gold sinks.

It's the player's own fault if they sell/buy for a price that they shouldn't. I always sell/buy for "MY" price. Sometimes it takes a day or even two to sell/buy it that way but I always end with about 10-20% more profit.

+1

if you want currency FAST, you buy at bad rates. if you want profit, you wait

you get lots of gold... ok lol,, thats bs, when half the problem is gold respec and when specking and choose a ascend your stuck so there goes alot of gold and time... hopefully with the update they have coming up the gold respec does actually go down , but the gold sucks in general tons of people are not running end game even than you dont have much gold, unless you play 24/7 like a streamer but its there job to play so.. yeah gold drops suck in general .. but you saying gold is plentiful in this game is very comical lol

i m sorry if i offended you. i've been hoarding the gold and my build is kinda in a good place so i dont really need to use gold for respecs. i think i have 150k gold and sometimes i just splurge on the vendors buying rares/items with sockets/quality just to dismantle them.

its easy to forget how difficult gold acquisition can be if you're at an earlier stage of the game. my bad on that.

but when doing mapping gold gets pretty easy. especially if you sell rares. which is the main angle i was actually trying to emphasize.

botters can obtain gold without playing by selling gear for gold. thus gold is easily accessible.
