Question about the build, and I have been loving it so far, although I am still in the campaign. Based on experience in PoE 1, chaos resist was always a big pain to get?

With damage coming from mana essentially, is there a reason we don't take Chaos Innoculation?

We'd be immune from chaos (less affixes to hunt), and our damage is coming out of mana anyways, not life

Hello!

You for sure can experiment with CI as this is the type of build that doesn't care a whole lot about Life. That being said, one of the perks of AoC is double chaos resist + 10% Maximum Chaos resist.

It's very easy to actually get 85% Chaos Resist on this ascendancy, making CI not as powerful as it usually is (still potentially strong though), considering we can then use life as another defensive barrier for us.

That makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the explanation about CI. I could see maybe grabbing it if there was a really good damage node in the Ascendancy we could take instead, but since that isn't really the case, I can see why we would go without CI
This build would be great if I could get any of the required gear to drop, at the moment I'm just slowly smashing my face against tier 1 maps and having a really bad time of it :(
One thing to note that I don't see mentioned in any of the Updates to the original post, multiple curses on an enemy via the Whispers of Doom passive is actually useless when it comes to Hexblast doing more damage, as Hexblast, for whatever reason, only pops one curse at a time when used on an enemy.
Thanks for this guide/build. I made it to Act 1 cruel so far pretty smooth

I added support gems to ED and Enfeeble, making leveling much faster till act 3 / lvl 42:

ED: Scattershot and Chain
Enfeeble: Impending Doom

Early on, Impending Doom was very mana-heavy but added a nice AOE explosion, just like the Herald of Ice or Herald of Fire.

I used Chaos Bolt (wand skill) with chain and wither support until I could equip the withering presence to get some extra damage on the boss. just swapped chain from ED to chaos bolt for boss fights

Yep! That's correct. The curse Keystone is because we go that way either way and having an extra curse applied via Blasphemy (for Despair, Enfeeble or Temporal Chains) is really nice.

It's also worth noting that there is a very tiny window in which mobs will not have a curse on them even when using Blasphemy when Hexblast consumes the curse, so if you run Hexblast with really high cast speed or multi-cast shenanigans, the Keystone will help with that as well.

Great to hear you switched things up a bit for smoother leveling!

I honestly was just spamming ED almost all the way up to 42. I think if I ran this again, I would change up the leveling skill or adding Chaotic Freeze to Contagion to help.
what jewels would you recommend using?

Hello! Great question!

Chaos Damage, Mana, Resistances to max, Cast Speed would be my recommendations there.
