I must express my great pleasure derived from the fact that so many fellow PoE2 players are well versed in terms of game and system design.
Every time I read about player agency, player experience, shit design choices, drop rates, UNPLAYABLE mechanics and classes, I find myself lost in thought, in pondering.
What if I too were a qualified specialist, able to peer through the underlying mechanics and systems, being able to judge something as SHIT and LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE at a glance without even opening statistical tools. Would my experience with the game change?
I am very glad that I am in such good company, reading those well-thought analyses inspires me to improve. To strive to excellence and seek further broadening of own competences.
Thank you.

Not seeing the forest for the trees is excusable but look harder.

The POE community, especially POE 1 players have a big flaw: tunnel vison. They only see one way, and there's no deviating from it, in fact it's a sin to deviate.
Ever since GGG started presenting POE 2 they have made it clear that they want active, slow, combo based gameplay; at least for campaign and early end game. But the POE 1 "elites" know better, and they refuse this. They want POE 1 one button slot machine loot piñata gameplay. To achieve this they will look for the most broken akil, mechanic, item and try to do their "grand perfect build". Once GGG nerfs it, do they get the message? Sully goose, ofc not. They cry about it, and then proceed to find the next broken build.
Anything to not actually play the game; the game must play itself.

But there's a difference between nerfing a skill and making it obsolete. Based on poe1 history that's carried over to 2, I'm not sure that know-how exists

What is this post accomplishing exactly? Other than poor bait?

Isn't that just every ARPG gamer? They always just go to build guides, spec their character to whatever the guide said and then when the devs nerf that build because it was very obviously overpowered they throw a fit because they actually have to innovate for once.

Except it's not obsolete. People are still playing CoF and making it work, it's just not OP anymore. But that's not good enough for some, proving the point of the previous poster.

Product Managers almost always defer to their customer personas for design choices, one persona being "casual player" and another persona being "poe1 fanatic". Both of these personas have merit and are fractionally biased within their pool of total capture audience so they can achieve Pareto optimal across their design efforts.
With that said, alienating entire cohorts is never a wise decision, even if you're an established brand; especially if, in some cases.

You forgot the third party.....the devs themselves. GGG also has a stake in this, because they also want to make THEIR game. Keeping your customers happy is important, but what happens when it comes at the cost of your own happiness and accomplishments?
I don't envy GGG. I.agine wanting to make your game, your crown achievement, but at every turn you are "sabotaged" by two groups that will constantly tell you how they know better and how happy you will be with their choices.
Now if your whole point is to make piles of money and nothing else, what I just said doesn't apply.

Yeah, my point stands across 10 years.
We'll see how things work out. I want them to work, I like the game, but if we go down the same road as 1 you can fucking have it sweetpea.
