0.1.0d Patch Notes
I play POE from the early. It was a great game with variations of builds. We were happy have a lot of good gems and multiply interactions.
Then u begin bricking every good gem with your "balance". And what has the game turned into? New players see hundred of gems, but cant understand 90% of them usless. U cannot play without guide. They remained as tombstones of a past power. I really hoped that this game would be different, a new beginning, a lot of fans and interesting builds. But everything goes the same way, you destroy the skills again by imitating a false variety, leaving them in the game. Instead of strengthening other useless skills. Why do this? I have to say, i am quite dissapointed in the Hexblast patch note.
This whole time i have been building a trplle curse blasphemy char with only damage nodes. the damage is super trash compared to other builds, the video on the skill stated that it will explode multiple curses. Even if this is the case the damage will be passible. GG, the build is then now officially trash. |

At least remove the price of respeccing tree while it's alpha, it's just impossible to respec with this gold cost

If the build was too powerful, fine, give it a a bit of a nerf but this destroyed the build and setup.
To make it worse, no one has the gold required for respecs. And the though of leveling another character is painful. To be brutally honest, the campaign is a slog of a time sink with giant maps that serve literally zero purpose but to waste our time. The way I see it, there is a couple options that would be help. 1) Revisit the "execution" of this skill and maybe adjust it so it's at least usable etc. 2) Give full respec for people or make it dirt cheap. It should be anyway. This is beta. It's not a league. Wipe the EA after 3 months if you want to get better testing in. Making respecs dirt cheap lets people test more builds and will help in the long run. The campaign is brutal, the ascendancy process is confusing and overly annoying. Respect your players' time please, don't be Blizzard. Heavy handed things like this, this early in EA is just going to turn people away. It's going to sour the hype. All the new players this game just brought in are just going to leave and maybe just never come back. I implore you, it's EA, let people test for free. |

When nerfs or buffs are introduced to POE1, anything major is announced before league start for the most part; anything involving the actual economy once the league starts is minor at best. Now I understand POE1 has found some balance after 10 years and this is EA, pretty early in it too, and am very open to change, even major changes, but it's already been enough hours that indeed there should be compensation; free respec is the bare minimum, considering also the time and currency in the economy that have been spent towards a build that you think you'll be playing for longer. I don't really feel like the "busy" people complaining they dont want to redo the campaign and gather the gold again should get freebies, but at the same time, this time at least they actually did the work and should keep their rewards, or else obviously the frustration will be there (though it's EA - chill a bit, if you want the best balance come back in 12 months or maybe 10 years). I know I will keep playing different characters and leagues so a few exalts and 50h isn't a big deal, but this definitely doesn't help the view on POE as elitist.
Those obvious things aside, there are a few builds stronger than cast on stuff, even if it deserved some nerfing too. Not to mention the myriad of slightly underperforming builds (at least relative to my expectation of the intended difficulty of the game especially considering the strongest builds that are allowed to remain). This nerf to me feels less like a nerf on an "overpowered" archetype, and more like a clear message from GGG that automation = bad. Which makes me wary going forward if it's THIS nerfed (I don't know whether GGG overshot the nerf or actually tested and thought this is okay) - do you want variety or not? I'm not disappointed, as you can probably tell, very supportive, and it's okay if the game is not intended for everyone; my feedback revolves more around compensation for work done in the ongoing economy and build balance (relative to the game and to each other) and thus variety. |

Setting aside specific nerfs and talking about the game so far more broadly.
For me personally, i'll most likely see the furthest i can go but with how the game is playing i don't know about coming back to new leagues because i didn't like dodge rolls in arpgs and the prospect of going through the campaign again while dodge rolling one shots doesn't sound like a fun experience. Also for me personally, this is not a matter of handing out respecs but a fundamental mechanic/philosophy review that needs to be done. People are complaining right now, imagine how many of them will come back to a new league if making a new character causes such a negative feeling. They don't feel like getting the character up to speed was rewarding enough in itself or the payback after is worth it. The main problem is that campaign/early maps so far was not a fun experience without a meta build and it takes significantly more time than the original poe to get a character going. I don't think people would be complaining this much if early game was not such a massive slog because they would just go through it or have more characters to fall back into if one gets nerfed. This was the case for poe's campaign and it was amped to 11 in poe 2. The game currently is a big time investment for a player like me and every attempt is a higher stake than an attempt at poe given the time sunk and what dying means for the rewards later. That part is fine if it was delivering on the fun aspect but so far it has not and i don't feel like investing more to try finding something i like to play is a wise risk-return decision. It all falls back into the game design choice to make poe2 a ruthless mechanic around dodge rolling one shots which imo also significantly narrows the amount of builds. |
