0.1.0d Patch Notes

correct me if I'm wrong:
- Cast on freeze was exploited by one skill abuse applying way to much freeze leading to several comet/second activation. Only mana consumption left as limiter.
- Fix consist in deleting all cast on X mechanisms.

Few questions, please enlighten me:
- with which skill could we abuse cast on Ignite? Best I found was incinerate casting approximately 1 comet per second yet being exposed because it's a channeling. Did I miss the exploitable skill despite many hours exploring ignite possibilities?
- What about cast on crit?
- Why not simply nerf the freezing skill in question? Why punish everybody?
Why is Hexblast "clarified" as only detonating one curse? The skill gem video goes out of its way to showcase it detonating two curses simultaneously for extra damage. If you want to nerf it, fine, but at least call it what it is :l

I found a new build to switch to and the game is fun again. I'm not sure if you really wanted to kill off ice builds, but that's what you've done. Im now playing spark and i clear faster than i did with ice by far, so please dont nerf spark next.

For anyone wanting to know, here's the build im changing to:
https://mobalytics.gg/poe-2/profile/98800fe4-5cfe-47e5-a0ee-40611679b379/builds/9954fe0a-fd65-4acf-ab92-f4eadc731a60
I totally understand that nerfs are a part of the game and are necessary for balance, but I think we need a bit more flexibility when it comes to respecs. Early access is all about experimenting with builds and figuring out what works, and with constant nerfs, it can feel like a big setback if we can't easily adapt without losing everything we've worked for.

The current system feels punishing when nerfs hit, especially when they come just after we've spent a lot of time tweaking a build. A free respec option would go a long way in letting us continue enjoying the game without feeling like we’ve wasted our time or have to quit entirely and start over again. It’s hard to stay invested when you feel like you’re being punished for doing well.

In the end, the whole point of early access is to keep playing and provide feedback so GGG can continue improving the game. Giving us the ability to quickly adapt to changes without making us restart would really help with that, and ultimately keep the player base engaged.
*Grab popcorn in gemlings mercenary* Ahah first time ?

The nerf was a little hard but it still work, just saw a streamer doing last tier map with it with ease, it was just completly OP.

I see people saying that the Grenade Merc was stupidly strong and the nerf was needed, clearly, you didnt play this class, because hell it wasn't. Sure, I crushed act 1 and 2 boss 1st try, easy, but I got my bum served at the very beginning of act 3. Had to respec, I'm kinda undergeared (since I can't use gold, since the whole campaign give like what, 400k, which is about 2 hours of mapping, new class, new weapons, yeah, had to try things and respec, no gold though, had to farm for 3 whole days to find something that works somewhat), now I'm at a sweet spot (boss still taking 2 minutes, still getting one shot but everyone is getting one shotted, since they do like 20k damage per hit, just saw a 8k ES guy getting OSed by the monkey, you'll never have enough life or armor to mitigate enough damage, therefore defense is useless).

But yeah, with the nerf I just focused on the grenades and adding a bunch of debuff on them, it's clunky but it somewhat works, grinding my way through cruel to access mapping.

The nerf on CoX is harsh, for sure, but it's definitely still viable. You just won't be able to blitz through map, like every other class that's not an infernalist or a deadeye ._.

Not the real issue are here :

-Sustainability : The whole tree is a mess. You want mana regen or mana leech with a mercenary ? Nop. It simply doesn't exist. You want leech ? You can have leech, if you already have leech. What do you mean you don't already have leech ? How do you want leech if you don't already have leech ?! Well, I'm asking the questions, because my character is gonna need a new kidney before long chugging those mana potions (which are simply not enough during a boss fight). Looks dumb, but I reckon mana management in the low half of the tree seems to be a problem for others too.

-Gold cost : To fully respec a lvl 90 character in POE 1, where this is not central and just a league mechanic, you need around 270k gold, and by level 90 you swim in it, plus, you have regret orbs and foolproof technique to attain mapping.
In POE 2 , where gold is central, everything is around 3 times more expansive than POE 1, and it's a EA, so there will be frequent changes, rework, etc, that will brick or tone down a lot of build. Since the campaign is around 10 times longer than the one in POE 1, nobody wants to do a reroll before mapping (because the gold is shared, I can testify that starting a new character with 200k gold is INSANELY easier and quicker than the first character), but you still have to achieve mapping.

Everything cost gold, respec, merchant, gambling, and there is no alternative, therefore, the gold drop should reflect the increase in need and price, since everything is so damn expansive during first playthrough, you have real struggle building, progressing and just going to the end game with a subpar class (like Gemlings since the ascendancy skills is kinda meh : Doubling stat gain is great, but for 4 ascendancy point it's subpar, the one that streamline the required stats for gems doesn't work on spirit gems, therefore is useless, the one that give you 3 more skill gems would be usefull, if you could use spirit gems, since pressing 9 buttons while holding CTRL to use your skill doesn't leave a good feel, so you're left with only the left side, which has downsides too, and +1 level all gems, since they're all attacks, EH.)

-Map size : We get it, they looks great, sure, but do you know how long it took me with a grenade optimized mercenary to do the aqueduct in act three ? A full hour. It was so gruelling that I had to pause for an entire day before touching the game. It wasn't hard : Ballista, grenade spam, 40 second battle against a white pack, pull the lever, put the ballista, backtrack, grenade spam, rince, and repeat, wouldn't have been so tedious if the map was not the size of Alabama. And everything in act three is like that + labyrinth. It's not hard, it's WAY too big for not reason.

-The predominance of certain nodes and classes : You can't count on damage mitigations, since even at max mitigation you'll still be getting OSed, there is just no point. Life regen is EXTREMELY useless, since you have nothing to regen if you're dead. There is no life nodes. You can't leech if you don't already have leech on weapon or gloves. BUT : you have extra huge ES nodes, and mana nodes, if you play witch or sorceress, you doesn't lack anything. You can get 4k HP before the end of act 3, quite easily (playing with people doing it), with armor ES gear, mana stacking and ES stacking, wait level 58, BOOM archmage, all your damage are x3 now, and it will scale with level.

My guess on next nerf : LA Deadeye (zoomies, yeah), Archmage and/or ES build (having 8 to 10 times the survivability of any other class while being a spellcaster or a minion leader is obviously absurd and will be nerfed, enjoy it while it last, it's broken and you know it), Probably tunning down Hammer of God for Warrior (still OSing boss and clearing entire screen with one button in maps, the exact reason they nerfed other skill, same, you know it's coming).

I'm not complaining at all, it's an EA, and I'm quite pleased with it, crawling my way up into cruel, these are just suggestion and warning for players so they can prepare in advance (by the way, tools are starting to pop on the internet to prepare in advance for builds, it will be necessary)
There was a change to srs now spawning from all mini projectiles of fireball. Not listed in changes. This makes srs and fireball combo unplayable as srs always respawn at edges of map and Are never in the fight. Hope this is unintentional and reverted back!
can we just get a free respec, i cant clear t2 maps as it is with Cast on Freeze, its gonan take forever to farm enough gold and i just dont have it in me.
Still no clarification where the hell does 300 energy come from.
Skill: Comet
Cast time: 1 second
Gem itself adds +1 second to cast time, total 2 seconds.
Cast on Freeze description: "Has 10 maximum energy per 0.1 seconds of base cast time of Socketed Spells"
(2/0.1)*10=200
Tooltip says 300. What the hell?

Alright, so I've been seeing a lot of people complain about several things so I'm just going to put my 2 cents in.

I joined POE 1 during Synthesis league after years of talking shit about it being online only and not Diablo, granted I'm in my mid 30's at this point and pretty much a gamer for life, I feel like it's one of the best games ever made.

About 2.5k hours in, I'll tell you guys this, GGG ain't never steered me wrong. As a nobody, with no content and barely any feedback from myself to them after what I could consider a small amount of support I've given them in the form of actual money, I'd say that I'm not mad.

Yes, I am playing a "cast on" build.
Yes, I have had a mageblood before, thank you for asking! (ALSO big ups to boat league and currency exchange market, that shit was mint!)
No, I don't consider myself a gigachad expert like some of our top community players (best boi Ziz, DS_Lily, Mathil, Quinn, Ghazzy. jungroan, AND of course our lord Ben etc...)

I figure I'm somewhere in between. Nerf just hit me in Act 1 Cruel right before I went to bed...now I'm back here after a work shift the next day and I gotta say, it's not that fucking bad. It actually does seem balanced. I was waaay to strong for what would be considered to still be the tutorial of the game in which all the acts and parts aren't even finished AND still, I consider my build to be pretty damn strong right now.

Got no worries on GGG taking care of things proper from their end. I've played EA games that offer MUCH MUCH less. They definitely are listening and I'd even say for the first time dealing with a true fear of success and people actually knowing who they are in the industry and having this many players.

To the people who actually think they care about the money more than the game, sure, you're welcome to your opinion, but I'd disagree. Have some faith in a company that actually listened to the playerbase for OVER A DECADE and give them time to adjust. Things can literally only get better from here.

I paid my $30 knowing full damn well what they were offering and I'm looking forward to being able to help them make it better.

That being said, at the least, a free respec would be great. Hell, even a week of free respecs would probably take care of like 99% of these complaints.

Thank you!

It's completely beyond me who those people cry about their build being "deleted".
It got nerfed. Balanced. If you can't kill monsters at all, you made some huge mistakes, because CoF is still working just fine. Same for CoC.
Also adjusting your build doesn't cost 100k unless you think of switching to a completely different "op" build just to cry again 3 days later.
Go play your character. Go back a few steps and farm gold to respect your 10 points. Dont chase op builds that are OBVIOUSLY getting nerfed. Dont cry for free respec if you did.
Sure they could make respecs cheaper, but that would not solve the problem those people have. They claim to be unhappy with the cost and not that their build got "deleted" but in reality they're absolutely mad their op stuff is not op anymore and just want to get new op stuff.
