What are the decisions behind destroying all the crafting systems in the past 10 years?
I will say the game looks great, skills feel good, difficulty is ok, but why oh why are there no crafting systems in PoE 2? That was what made PoE what it is, the robust crafting, the crazy skills and supports you can combine (Where are GMP LMP Returning Proj etc?) and all of it is just gone. I'm sorry but Trans + Aug + Regal + Exalt + Vendor is not crafting. If I wanted to be excited about a 30 life and 8 resist item then I would have played ruthless. Please don't go in this direction.

Feel like they've destroyed a lot of things they improved in the last 10 years tbh. Remember when people didn't like that endgame progression was tied to RNG in map drops, they fixed that, but it seems we are back in the past with waystone RNG. Same with crafting, it's not really crafting, it's just a slot machine.
Gotta remember it's EA I guess, but the game needs a lot of work, and the philosophies behind some of these decisions need a lot of work too. |

Probably because the are treating it as a ground up process with a slightly different ethos on gearing and crafting because they could as it is a "new game"
The problem is that their core players are likely PoE1 die hards that have went through the processes to make crafting what it is atm in PoE1 (and it's not perfect yet either) The bench is life, settlers added a new bench and it adds a lot BUT this should (as well as every new crafting system) should be added to the main crafting bench and the only difference is how you pay for it Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

Because GGG is the fun police and they fucking hate their audience. Every major decision about this game has been about sucking the life and fun out of it, all the while lining their pockets with poe1 player donations. They are catering to the new crowd in gaming who is obsessed with having as little abilities as possible in games. Look at the losers who police the skills casual players were using in Elden Ring. That is the crowd they have bent the knee to

I mean, it is Pre-release. I'm sure they will add a lot of things just like D4 did.
Release early, get that money for a beta model, and then finish the game during seasons. |

Having something different for a different game.
I hated that system sitting in hideout crafting same base item million times following some guide until you get basically the same super rare than everyone else. Arpg:s have allways beign about rng. Rolls matter more now. rng matters more now. its back to good old basics. I love it! Just found +3 cold spells staff. managed to craft 48% spell dmg, 14 cast speed, 14% damage as extra cold dmg, 18% dmg as extra fire and mana regen. And im over the frickin moon. Im loving poe2 even tho it needs qol stuff and balansing. |

PoE2 is more of an Ultra ruthless pro than just ruthless... :)
Admittedly, I find it great during the campaign, and it ahs definitely made the game much more approachable (PoE1's biggest issue), but I can't imagine playing much of an endgame in it, and the lack of crafting is one of the major parts. | |
PoE 2 is a new game that favors randomness.
8 mod maps are the new alch and go.

" I'm so grateful that it's a separate thing, and we don't have to put up with all these awful PoE 2 decisions! |
