The Mad Wolf of Ogham
" Cleared every boss in the Act 1 map multiple times. No boss has offered cold resist effect for me. Perhaps one of my allies picked it up since there is no real loot fairness when in groups (beyond the quest tokens that drop for everyone). As for the charms, they are one time use. So after the first hit, you are down to zero resist until the charm is recharged. As I recall, the wolf attacks you more than once. Last edited by eEridani#1169 on Dec 11, 2024, 12:41:29 PM

" I can work with this. Keep t small, then the increase in Insanity is small per failed attempt. In fact, increase T, click some Increased Grumpiness Threshold nodes. Also, currently your total Insanity is unbounded. You should reconsider your model. Perhaps, a Pareto distributed variable - because if t is sufficiently large, then your grumpiness decreases, but doesn't decay exponentially. Last edited by AlvinL_#4492 on Dec 11, 2024, 1:09:26 PM

" When you kill the frost witch in the very first zone she drops a wolf head quest item which can be consumed for 10% cold res |

" Get more cold resist and use cold charm. Remember to craft it atleast blue. Was easy for me after that. |

Not true at all. I got a carry past this dumb ass boss and was cakewalking the next act to level 30 (that boss is level 16).
The Wolf is overturned it’s not even arguable. |

Yeah the only boss I've had trouble with after him is at the end of ...guess, Act 2.
Hopefully bringing the cost of respeccing will help, though I think it needs to be a lot lower across the board and not just the high end. It cost me 40k at Lvl 36 to respect my Monk to get past Act 2. Money is easier to come by in Act 3, but that's not helping if you can't get to it and you bankrupt your character. It's stupid design. |

I used the trade site to get gear with cold res, and a new weapon. I had spent 2 or 3 ex I think to get some new items. Honestly the new weapon was the most important thing. I suggest doing that when you hit a wall. Save your exalts.
Also check vendors every time you are in town for upgrades, they have rares sometimes and can be decent. |

Wolf can't hold a candle to Viper in terms of difficulty. She's easy too now, with practice.
..oops I didn't mean to imply you had to put in effort to learn the game, my bad |
|
The boss is challenging, but with some effort, it's incredibly doable. It took me several tries on my Monk, but only once after I beefed up his resistance. Beat him on the first try using my Witch, even though I was sending all my currency and items to my main character, leaving the Witch barely anything including resistances. As for the mercenary, I also beat him on first try, with a bit more investment than the witch but nothing compared to my monk. The more you play the game, the better you get, but you can also learn a lot of things that will make it easier. If you're struggling with ACT 1 final boss, you're doing something wrong, or just need to spend more time with your character/exploring the rest of the ACT1 and doing other areas.

This fight is hard, but doable. It feels good when you beat it though.
If you feel like you don't have enough levels, go back and do some of the starting areas again to get more levels and gear. As others have said cold resist is important so you can keep moving. The rest is just picking up on the visual and audio cues. Use OBS to record the fight if you need to. It took me about 7 tries then I beat it on the 8th. The first 4 were just to learn the mechanics....and I thought if I had just recorded the fight I could have probably cut it down to like 4. The rest is just being patient and waiting for your opportunities to attack. Yes the Snow Donut is hard....but you are just trying to keep moving here and dodge the wolf attack, this one is an audio cue as if you see him it is probably too late. Wait for him to stop talking do a one count and roll or use any jumping travel skill. Act 2 actually felt easier than this fight....until Valley of the....but it all comes down to learning the mechanics. Last edited by Irres#4128 on Dec 17, 2024, 10:45:07 AM
