Got exactly the same issue, can't complete the quest. I've killed watchful twins as well as Balbala, but each of them dropped baryas with 2 trials instead of 3.

Same Problem for me... It seems like, its not gamebreaking. But give us a fix, please.

BUMP for this 1st being logged on Dec 10th and still being an issue. I have it as well. Was grouped up with some friends and completed it. I noticed that a few quests in Act2 Cruel were not completed at all, but yet the npc's on the caravan were still there when I got back on later by myself. I reattempted to complete the quests on my own without luck. Seems like the game will allow me to continue, but something tells me I'll have issues later in the game when it comes time to ascend again. Please fix this asap.
