Aim Assist is on by default for keyboard and mouse, no way to turn it off

Aim assist causes so many issues and is the source of a lot of frustration.

Yes this is an egregious example however the frequency of where your abilities get completely nullified by hitting invisible walls or terrain you are not aiming at is far too high. This just creates a really frustrating experience.

I posted an example in another thread, but this seems to be the biggest thread on the topic. In the following video you can see I'm trying to aim at my Tempest Bell, but my character keeps aiming at the bottom-most part of the bosses hitbox instead. I wasn't even holding the skill hotkey down as you can see sometimes it does aim where I want it to, the boss's hitbox is just so massive there's almost no way I can avoid clicking it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmgROPvPoX4

With WASD movement granting us more direct control of our character, it would be nice to keep that extra level of control over our skill aiming as well. Target lock can be nice in certain situations, but most of the time I can do without it. Having an option to disable auto-lock would make things feel a lot better. PoE2's combat feels great overall and this is a relatively minor frustration, but it is annoying and gets in the way sometimes.
