" CI is shorthand for Chaos Innoculation. It's a notable that makes it so that your HP is 1, but you are completely immune to chaos damage. That means you have to stack energy shield for defense but don't have to worry about chaos resistance. The ring Original Sin was nerfed compared to PoE1, it sets your chaos resistance to 0, but it doesn't matter because with CI I am chaos immune anyway. I managed to make it work, it's still a bit iffy because I can't afford an annoint so I am wasting a ton of points on pathing, but the build feels very much tankier and has a lot of room to scale damage. If most of my damage is coming from poison is it then pointless to have passives like increased damage from bows or increased attack damage? or do those count towards poison as well?

After testing Gas Arrow & reading the posts here for the last week, I wanna also contribute.
Wanne summaries what I found out + THX to everyone in this Thread to help me improving the build by reading everything: - Poison is determined by the inital Hit of the Skill - Magnitude is HUGE for damage - shorter Duration deals damage faster - you dont need all the poison stacks -> more dmg + faster seems better than stacks - Rain of Arrows to apply Wither is insanely good - +Level to Projectile/Chaos is insane scaling - Flat Phys seems to be better then %Chaos DMG (needs more Testing) some more context: After testing a high hitting Bow seems better then everything else. So the best bow you can get is a Expert Zealot Bow. Everything that scales the Phys Damage of the weapon benefits the poison, Chaos Damage is also nice. I think the Cultis Bow is a Scam, cause you cant scale the damage. I also think the Dualstring Bow is a bait for poison. The +1 Arrow isn't worth the damage sacrifice. If you got a Dualsting Bow that is slightly better then your current, use it -> more damage = better. Personal oppinon: For my liking a odd numer of arrows is better then a even number for coverage I heavily tested around with poison duration. It seems to work like PoE1. If you shorten the Duration the Damage stays the same, but dealt in a shorter duration of time. That said "Less Posion Duration" is very nice for map clear. But what I noticed there seems to be a sweet spot for the duration, if its to short the poison can't deal enough damge in this short time. (need more testing here). There is so much more to test i didn't consider right now, so feel free to elaborate. Overall I wanne get Gas Arrow to a point we can league start it to feel like it was Caustic Arrow from PoE1, so I posting my current tree & everything. Hey, if I get a chance later I'll toss it on mobalytics or something. It's not too dissimilar from what most are running for the major nodes, just tweaked for my gear and specific needs. The 8 jewels feel good. Also just anointed heavy ammunitions for an extra 40% dmg which was a nice cboost. Saves you pathing there and is a simple Guilt/Greed/Greed so it's cheap.

" Thanks for the research. I agree with most of the things you mentioned. I don't think you're correct about the duration though. In PoE1, duration doesn't change the dps of the poison (https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Poison#Duration). I haven't explicitly tested it, but I would be very surprised if they changed this. There's so much "% increased duration" on the tree that it would be really weird if all those nodes decreased your dps. Also, things like Comorbidity support have reduced duration worded in a way that makes them sound like a downside ("... but shortening the duration of those poisons"). " So the issue here I think is that Gas Arrow imo is not near as good to play without either scattershot, or the extra arrow from dualstring. Not only for very quick stacks with multi-hits, but the increased AOE range of the gas clouds. Not to mention it saves a lot of mana not having to spam GA over and over. I got rid of scattershot and use a dualstring instead with Concentrated effect. That way I get the range/benefit of multi arrows while getting the DPS from CE. Some people may be able to play a single arrow with CE instead, but to me it is not near as fun or good, and you will find your self just constantly out of mana on top of it. |
