Where are my pathfinders at?

Locked out of 4th ascendancy because my trial with amazing boons is stuck on 4th floor due to some terrain generator error crashing me to login when I try to continue.

Hey, I'm lazy so I didn't put the allocated stat passives but it's mainly dex for gems and some str for max life and to hit gear reqs (I'm using str/dex hybrid gear mostly). My tree is probably not the best variant around but it's working for me.

what is the DEX/STR split roughly? how much STR do your armors require?
Or could you maybe just share your armors so one could learn what to look for? i want to pick up this class right now

why are you not taking any of the chaos damage nodes? am I missing something?

Don't use corrosion on gas arrow, it doesnt work. It is infact a dps loss as you could use that slot for something better like Martial tempo or w/e.



Corrosion works for breaking the armor but do you mean armor doesn't affect the damage for the "hits"?
The poison tooltip in game is the following:

Poison is an Ailment that deals Chaos Damage over time, and lasts 2 second by default. Damage from Poison bypasses Energy Shield.

Physical and Chaos damage from Hits Contribute to Poison magnitude.

Damage does not Contribute to Poison chance, so it cannot be inflicted wihtout an explicit source of Poison chance.

The base Magnitude of Poison is Chaos damage per second equal to 20% of the Physical and Chaos damage dealt by the Hit that inflicted it. This is calculated using the final damage dealt by the Hit, but not any modifiers on the target that affect how much damage they will take from the Hit. This magnitude is not further by any modifiers to the damage you deal.

Modifiers and Debuffs that affect the enemy's ability ot mitigate damage (such as Shock) can affect the damage the enemy takes form Poison, but any such modifiers that specifically apply to Hit damge (such as Penetration) do not affect poison damage


Breaking armor doesn't increase poison magnitude. If I'm not mistaken breaking armor is kind of physical equivalent of penetration for elemental damage, so according to the description it won't do anything. It sounds like poison magnitude is based on hit damage before armor mitigation comes into play.(not 100% sure of this bit and it's hard to test because god knows how armor works for monsters)

Furthermore, if you are applying poison with physical or elemental damage, percentage increased chaos is useless. The only scenario where you want %increased chaos is when you are using Cultist Bow(it's bad compared to phys bow) or when you are converting damage to chaos(ie. using Original Sin).

Wither and Despair both increase poison damage.

Thank you for clarifying! I did read the ingame tooltip multiple times but I was still confused and just went with corrosion as it was also one of the recommended gems. So basically I've been blasting T14-15 maps and just did my 4th ascendancy with a 4-link, kind of :)
Deadly Poison is just as confusing to me. Poison is calculated on hit damage, so in my head I think it should drop my initial poison dmg 25%, but increase the magnitude 75% so even out to a 50% DPS increase. The skill tab though shows Gas Arrow drops 400 DPS though, which is like a 33% DPS decrease when I take it off.

DPS stat is quite useless to look at with Gas Arrow because it is influenced quite a lot by attack speed and elemental dmg etc which do not affect poison dmg... Better to look into the detail to "main hand physical dmg" and chaos dmg. And then try to think how much is it increased by the poison multiplicators which are not reflected anywhere in those stats. They have to fix it.

ahh, that makes sense except in the case of Gas Arrow, I feel you should be more concerned with the poison cloud damage as that will hit and continue to hit way more than you would with bow shots, if you "hit" with them at all as opposed to the ground. For Deadly Poison, the main hand damage is higher with poison, but the cloud itself takes a significant DPS decrease.
How are you guys staying alive in maps? my damage is fine but I die so easily even in low level maps.
I have 85% evasion but virtually no armour, do I need armour for maps? or is there some defensive ability I am missing (I have wind dancer and ghost dance)

Of course the poison cloud is doing all the job but afaik the base dmg of the cloud is based on the same dmg (phys+chaos hit), it is just applying poisons continuously.
