Why in the HELL is the Siphon Mana ring on monsters in this game?!
It was stupidly annoying in POE1, but even more so in POE2! Who in the hell made this decision?!

Ran into this in Act2 today(2H mace warrior). It was a horrible experience but then I thought...wait, what does a class that actually *needs* mana do with this nonsense? Because mobility doesn't exist in this game. And trust me, much later in the game the mob with Siphon Mana is likely to have Haste or some other inescapable modifier attached to it.

Ran into this mod in act1 and agree it was not fun at all. But later in act3, got an aggressive mob with Extra Energy Shield + Shroudwalker rare which was simply unplayable as a ranged caster. 5 minutes of kiting, running out of space to backpedal, and I'm like "nope, reroll map, no rewards anyway". Save this crap for Act 6, please.
Souls-like is a hard check on skill and soft check on builds. POE1 is a hard check on builds and in SC trade a very very soft check on skill. A 6-year old child could clear a t17 given the right build setup pushing random buttons. POE2 can't have it both ways, too overwhelming. Can you imagine Elden Ring with POE monster mods, lol. That's why there's little to no RNG in souls-likes, goes hand-in-hand with "start all over if you fail, but you learned where and what the mobs do". Like the mobs that block your projectiles, so you have to time your attacks? Interesting and fun, fits the new game style. Mods that are designed as gear-checks? Need to be re-evaulated. But I'm confident GGG will fix these issues before release. |

Nothing you can do against this as a caster. Had one with siphon + haste on my first act 2 map. Please remove this mod or add some counterplay.

The counterplay is to either stay outside of the range, or stand inside the circle.

It's not a donut like it is in PoE1, it's just a circle. This is a miserable affix on a melee mob, especially a fast one.

" I tried the next time I encountered one, and it does seem to be a donut. You do regen mana if you hug the enemy, but I imagine depending on the enemy the hitbox may be too big to be in the no-siphon part of the circle. Also many enemies may just kill you if you hug them, especially with other strong modifiers. Really don't think this mod is healthy for the game. |

Faced a siphon mana mob with haste as a sorceress. I could not outrun it or wall it off with a frost wall (in small windows where I managed to get enough mana back from the flask). The flask ran out after three frost walls.
Logging out was the only way to deal with this monster mod effectively. |
