Kinda sad what other people here are saying about POE 2
imagine playing, supporting and financing a game for 10 years only for them to make a sequel not targeted at you. I feel fucking robbed. the moment they said poe 2 is gonna be a seperate game should have been a huge red flag. Every dollar spend since then feels like u got persuaded into with nice sweet words.

Nah, poe 2 is awful and they wasted tons of time and money making a not-sequel to their game.

I'm new here, so hi all. Just putting in my 2 cents.
I played POE1 sporadically on and off - I consider myself an ARPG fan in that I've played almost every one of them to some degree or another (not even just the big names, I've played all the jank B-list ones like Sacred, Dungeon Siege, and both iterations of that Russian Van Hellsing game). As it is now I don't think PoE2 can hit any form of broad appeal. I also don't think it's going to win over the souls gamers. I'm actually quite a fan of the souls games (even imported Demon's Souls from Japan on the PS3 when I heard about it online) back in like 2009. This game apes some of the boss fighting from the souls experience and I do enjoy how the fights are actual fights - but the parts between bosses are way more boring than a souls game because it's just ARPG map design. Souls had interesting puzzles, locales, traps, things to find, etc. In PoE2 you just get swarmed by a mob of enemies running 300km/h straight to you and then you back up and try to slow/kite them and pray to god your a class that has some early access to AoE. Then do that 100 times until you get to the boss. Just hope you don't get stuck in a corner cause all the escape skills have janky as hell animations that take ages to complete. Another point, even people who like souls games - broadly they only do a single playthrough. You grind a boss 30 times then you're like "I finally beat it and it's done. I never have to do it again". Yes there's a segment who like to play the games doing their level 1, no item playthroughs but that's like 0.01% of people. To me this is a big problem for a game that's going to be seasonal. There's no way I'm grinding through 6 acts of this every 3 months as it is now. I just don't hate myself enough for that. And speaking for myself, that's kind of where I see this game right now. I'm going to force myself through all 3 acts just for the accomplishment and see how the atlas feels - but once I stall out there I'm probably just going to log off and call it done enough. I think with some tweaks the game can at least be made to be fun. Last edited by Weaver#3527 on Dec 7, 2024, 10:30:34 PM

" Agreed. The difficulty and need to pay attention to what I'm doing is a welcome change. Pacing is a lot nicer too in my opinion. Makes the combat just feel weighty and so damn solid. Settlers league in PoE1 was kinda just "faceroll content until you get the challenges. Watch everything explode instantly on screen". This is so much nicer for me. Though if someone likes that - they have PoE1 to play. Which isn't going away. Just wish people would stop trying to say PoE2 needs to be a clone of it. https://www.pathofexile.com/shop - Support Path of Exile!

The things is, people that WANT one shotting gameplay, and less loot can ALSO find that in poe1, which tada (!) makes poe2 redundant.

The vision is sound. The execution has been carried out by someone blindfolded and partially deaf, unfortunately.
It's early access, though, so it's not the end of the world. Just slightly disappointing. |

" It is not chalenging - it is boring and tedious. hit - dodge roll - hit - dodge roll - 2 hits - boss 1 shooting you. Repeat All game you move backward and dodge roll - what is it hack and slash? Or saper simulator? After hard day at work I wanna relax in the game - Poe 1 was perfect - fast and smooth gameplay - rewarding - you have been smashing tons of enemies. In Poe 2 I feel claustrophobic and bored becasue of tedious mechanics and constantly runnig back. Game looks ok but gameplay is terrible. And really shouldn't be call POE 2 because concept is completelly different. Last edited by SaTaNaEl666#3815 on Dec 8, 2024, 12:54:23 AM

I don't consider the game too hard so far.
I'm trying a somewhat dodgy self created minion master build that's very medicore so far with little hp. Most bosses have like 4 or 5 different attacks. The game really just wants you to remember the tiniest bit of information to know when you have to dodge and in my opinion this works very well. You can dodge roll literally like every 2 seconds in this game. So far I was able to beat most bosses on my 2nd try, even with my crappy build, and I really enjoyed the perceived change of pace when it comes to gameplay and poe1. This game certainly isn't as punishing as Dark Souls or Elden Ring when it comes to boss fights. That being said: Every player has his own preferences and skill levels when it comes to gaming. So it's quite fair to say you don't like poe2, but that certainly doesn't make it an objectively bad game. Maybe you got suckered in by the hype and realize now that this type of game just isn't for you. On that note: Enjoy the game and git gud fellow scrubs! (jk) |

I love that they went the more challenging route for the game. It's not for everyone but I'm sure will bring in the challenge crowd.
I got the sauce.
POE2 enjoyer. |
