POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

freezing issue, and long load screens fixed by using ''Vulkan'' under renderer, which you can find under options > graphics.

I wonder if Tencent knows the games they spent 100 million+ on is an active threat to people's hardware. Someone should @tencent on X or something lol. That might get GGG's attention
i had as same issue but on ps5.....

I found something from a reddit user which seemed to work and it's much simpler than I thought. Of course you have to do all the fixes / corrections first, I've played 4 hours over the course of last night and this morning not a single crash yet, fingers crossed... I typically crash randomly anywhere every 30 minutes like clockwork was super annoying especially if trying to clear Pinnacle Boss or breach farming.

---System---
i7 12700k, RTX2070 (driver version 566.03) , 32GB RAM, Win 11 fully updated

---Steps---
1. On Steam > verify integrity of game files
2. Delete POE2 shader cache files
3. Nvidia settings changes below

---Nvidia Settings---
Most are default some key highlights that worked for me:

- Power management mode = Optimal power
- Shader Cache Size = 10GB (because C drive has less than 40GB free)
- Texture Filtering Quality = High Performance
- Triple Buffering = On

---In-game Graphic Settings---
Renderer = DirectX12
Mode = Windowed Full Screen
VSync = Off
Dynamic Resolution = unchecked
Upscale Mode = NVIDIA DLSS
Image Quality = Balanced
HDR = unchecked

Texture Quality = High (default)
Texture Filtering = 8x
Lighting = Shadows + Global Illum (default)
Shadow + GI Quality = Low (default)
Sun Shadow Quality = High (default)
Number of Lights = High (default)
Bloom = 100%
Water Detail Level = High (default)
Nvidia Reflex = On + Boost
Foreground FPS Cap = Checked and 144 (my monitor refresh rate)
Background FPS Cap = Unchecked and 30
Triple Buffering = Checked
Dynamic Culling = Unchecked
Target Framerate = 120 (maximum to the right)
Engine Multithreading = Checked

some of your settings may differ for the default and I think the key is to stick to "Default" within the "Detail Settings" section and also have Nvidia Reflex On + Boost.

This ACTUALLY worked for me, did a whole day session without a crash on 24h2.

Clearing the cache has a positive effect for a while. Like 1-2 days depending on how quickly you fill it and start redo content. Its been documented before.

I suspect that whatever process is resposible for the fork-bomb that causes the freeze is delayed in favour of actual caching. When the cashe is filled again the freezes are back.

Just so that you are aware that they will come back eventually. Its probably more time efficient and safe to keep the cache and start disable and enable multi-threading before and after every new map sadly.

I actually didn't clear the cache out, unless verifying files did it without me knowing, but ill report back if i crash again after a bit.

Rly the only changes I made were to NVIDIA-related settings, and I enabled Triple Buffering but I don't see how that could be the straw breaking the camel's back here.

Lets hope it continues then. There was another user who said it may depend on how quickly there is an available instance to load the new map on. If you have a more stable connection now, or the servers are behaviong a bit more stable, or less players are playing at the same time etc, that also may have a positive effect.

You think that after 500+ pages of replies in this thread and 400+ in the other, something as simple as changing the renderer fixes the issue?

With that said. Vulcan is indeed better and you should use it regardless.
Just your daily reminder here that GGG sucks and that I wasted 60 euros on a broken game that I haven't been able to play properly since the 1st week after launch.

FIX YOUR GAME GGG

and give me my money back.
I just did a complete reinstall of my computer can't even passed the logging screen... tryed all the fix out there nothing is working for me...
GGG YOU HAVE TO FIX THIS NOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU
