POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
There are a bunch of threads on this so I'll just repost from elsewhere in case this one is being monitored:
I've had other crashes, but this one is happening several times per play session, almost always on a loading screen. The entire system becomes unresponsive and must be manually restarted. My system: OS: Windows 11 Pro 64-bit (10.0, build 26100) (24H2) Mobo: Gigabyte AORUS ELITE AX CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000 SSD: Samsung 990 PRO 2TB PCIe Gen 4x4 NVMe GFX: EVGA nVIDIA RTX 2080 SUPER I've noticed nothing showing up in Windows Event Viewer after a freeze, or any indication when a freeze may be about to happen. The game is running fantastic (120+FPS), then I load into an area and the system locks up, seemingly at random. Happens both solo and in party play. The last debug entries from my last crash today (spam of "No collision callback set! MoveTo was not called before setting up line sweeper. Metadata/Characters/Int/IntFour" precedes this): " I really hope this somehow helps, it's really my only major technical issue I'm experiencing. |

" I can confirm this works for me. Thanks. Last edited by madeofstone0220#3812 on Dec 13, 2024, 10:39:12 PM

" This might be the first case of a CPU death, on the 9800x3d. Are you sure you were not overclocking or running those crazy 10x scaler options? The combination of that combine with the CPU being blasted by POE2 might have sent a overcurrent, but AMD has extremely tight controls over this. You should post this on the AMD forum |

" he said no overclocking. but im super skeptical. I do symphatize though and many others in these threads AND steam forums AND reddit forums. Maybe xbox ps forums too! It is not inconceivable that your cpu gets *edit:* some form of damage at full throttle just before forced shutdown Last edited by godimpulse#1516 on Dec 13, 2024, 11:16:59 PM

" That's a great idea. I didn't know Process Lasso could do that per se. I've tried nearly everything to find a solution. Finally, closing out the NVIDIA system tray app helps and I'm able to play along with the usual tweaks everyone seems to do. I was trying lots of things, disabling shader caches, cpu affinity, bios stuff, page file changes, disabling Bluetooth, etc ad infinitum. So yeah, keeping the NVIDIA tray app closed did the trick for me unless I am on crack. It's probably the easiest thing to try. One caveat is that the crashes are pretty random so it's very difficult to pin down what actually increases the odds that a particular solution works. What if POE2 Jumps to 100% usage and blocks project lasso to even perform an observation on cpu usage?

" Interesting hypothetical. But after I was literally unable to play at all due to the crashing, doing this in Project Lasso allowed me to actually get in game again. After I got through The Traitor's Passage and tried entering the Halani Gates area, the game would 100% consistently freeze up my PC on every loading screen. Project Lasso's CPU Limiter rule fixed that and I'm able to play again. |

Yeah playing this game on DX11 feels like a masochism, constantly dipping to 10 fps, the godawful fps drops in maps are almsot constant. From the technical perspective this is probably the worst launch of the game i've ever seen

" Check in the task manager. With the multi thread disabled ingame just use the waypoint to another zona and you will see in task manager the graph spike in two cpus. The other ones stay normal. I tested again after restarting the pc and still works. And the CPUs were the same. |
