First impressions on POE2 EA?
" -The sluggish feeling i definitely feel. It’s not awful when you are actually fighting(still seems about 25% too slow), but you really notice it when you have to backtrack on a massive map and are slow af. That was a gripe a lot of people had with d4, adding time sinks for no reason to make the game take longer. -Chaos dmg seemed a non-factor. My main combat gripe is the lack of a movement skill. I’m constantly surrounded by a ton of trash mobs that lock me in place. I guess if dodge roll had phasing this could solve that, but I certainly miss the movement skills. -The skill layout does feel bad. I also only noticed at lvl 9 that there is a box checked off to only show support gems that GGG recommends, which gave off major D3 skill vibes. There is no information on any of the tooltips when you hover a skill on your bar. The character tab(C) also seems to have leas actual info? -The world map for canpaign seems a bit ugly, but maybe that will grow on me. Looked okay on the teasers for maps. -I don’t really get the people who say it’s too hard. I definitely died when I tried to do the campaign on HC playing like it’s PoE1. Any other death has been not knowing boss mechanics and probably being under geared for them. |

" Nope. Been blasting away continuously, making 100 div trades this week. Have/had no plans to touch P2 for at least a month after launch, I know how these early weeks go. It's not a big deal, but it is of a piece with GG's horrible communication this weekend, and really, going much further back. Been a nice run. I see what the future holds here, though, and it ain't for me. Glad I kept my wallet closed. |

" I agree with the rest of your post, but this bit really depends on your perspective, quite honestly. If your coming in as a casual from PoE1, I can see why you'd think that PoE2 (right now) is a bit on the uncomfortably hard side in places. Thing is... I think a lot of that is down to the problems the gameplay ahs with pacing and responsiveness. I don't think it's intentional, because I don't believe that GGG are foolish enough to trade out the huge guaranteed playerbase they built up with PoE1 for a playerbase they've largely imagined. They surely looked at Blizzard's attempt to do that with D4 and noted the folly of that strategy. If I were a betting man, which I am, I will put money on the game being tuned and balanced to be much easier than it curently is out of the gate. MOAR PANTS, because every good game needs a pointless meme.

"The crowd is not imaginary. It is already here on the forum advising us to go play other games. These are people from consoles and other games for whom POE2 was made. Unfortunately, the developers don't give a damn about the old fans of the game |

Disappointed there are no spectres yet.

" The slow complaint I can understand. The difficulty part I am fine with so far. I prefer some kind of challenge over an invincible build that just speed runs over the game. |

I think the game is fine for what really is a beta/ early access.
They haven't done much balancing and it shows. Minions are a total waste, the best ones to use is SRS which is under elementalist and you need to use fire spells in order to summon. Melee is good as long as you combo in the auto attack with your other skills. This is true for almost all classes, except ranger. Speaking of which, it feels like the most complete class so far which would make sense. Pathfinder has the flask down, but the concoctions are scuffed, and if you don't go poison, the rest of the ascendencies are really weak. Bloodmage works once you get your second set of ascendency skill points. Before that, you just play it as a sorcerer. I am glad they are letting players in because I can see 1 more year of changes and 6 months sounds way to optimistic. As far as gameplay, I can totally see why people compared to the souls series's and I agree. I do like the change of pace and slowly gotten used to the cycling of skills. I love how you can combo different skills of different elements and still be effective. Poe 2, feels more like a spiritual successor as far the campaign goes. Once I reach end game, I hope it plays more like poe 1, and we can do some zoom zoom |

" Im also here and im advising you to stay in poe1. PoE2 is great, its diffrent. Now you need to play it instead of holding rmb for 45 sec. Its awasome. |

I think that if you are deciding on purchasing PoE 2, you should understand that it is at the beginning of Early Access.
If you never played PoE 1, play that first to get an idea of the complexity and the vision GGG has for this franchise. If you have played PoE 1, PoE 2 feels the same yet completely different from the first game. Although I am a new player to PoE, I literally started playing about two weeks ago, I absolutely love PoE 2 so far. I absolutely love PoE 1, too. I can definitely see myself playing both games far into the future. PoE 2 drastically improves upon the first game, yet the first game is still amazing to play. My real first foray into ARPGs was Diablo 3, but I never really played beyond completing the campaign. Same goes for Diablo 4. My friends and I were so excited for Diablo 4. We bought the season passes and the expansion. But after playing PoE, we quickly realized we've made a horrible mistake these past 10 years. Thank you GGG, I'm excited for the future of the PoE franchise and for whatever else you have planned. |
