" I'm on SSF, so my gear is nowhere near optimal, but overall damage is far from oneshoty. Before the patch lvl81 boss with +3 difficulty from atlas took about 100 seconds. Should be about minute now. It's not even close to meta build performance, but clear is great and I'd say overall it's in ok territory. It is close to my expectaitions and I think that builds oneshoting max-buffed bosses in SSF gear are prime candidate for next nerfhammers from GGG. I don't think that was the intent. " Agreed, honestly its much more important to have a class/build that is fun to play, and feels balanced. DOT buff is pretty good, but I feel my build don't really do a good job at exploiting it. |

( infernalist) Yeah I am not sure how people are managing to clear red tier maps with chaos drain being your main damage. I have a +3 wand with 70 spell dmg and a +1 shield with like 40 percent chaos dmg. My tool tip is measley 1.4k degen over time. I have the withering totem setup and a fairly good curse but rares do not die fast at all and even blue monsters don't die quickly. I went back to act 2 and tried to kill the rare monster and it still took 8 seconds or something. Its quite possible it gets way better after gem level 19 but I am locked on that for now. Tier one is slog and that screams I did something wrong but I haven't found a glaring issue yet.
Was using chaos mastery, swift affliction and drain ailment. I am even using a shock setup with ball and warp. I am stuck on 3 support gems right now so that is also a factor obviously. Last edited by Themasterofw#4180 on Dec 18, 2024, 2:57:11 PM

My main concern with the build, overall is mana.
I would not stress too much about damage, while killing bosses faster will be fine it not bothers me. Mana on the other hand is a problem. I tried different approaches, but even speccing 10 passives in manaregen does not solve the problem on good +levels from gear. I downlevel contagion/despair, but I really don't want to downlevel effigy or ED. Currently the only solution I found is Mana Drain on wand (you can run even with 0 mana regen passives this way), but it is clunky. As the problems are mainly during clear (for bosses you don't need to cast so often and overall there is more than enough time to use Manda Drain in the rotration), going for mana on kill on gear may be an option. So I've been playing a ED / Contaigon LvL 86 Chronomancer since Act 2 and I'm having a blast. Yeah its not super duper quick, but with my build its super safe in T15 Maps and clearspeed is quick enough to be fun. Especially after todays patch, you can really feel the 33% DMG increase for ED and Chaos Bolt I love it. Now the Bosses are a lot quicker.
For Trashmob clearing I just use lots of AoE and Hexblast is one hitting most. For rares I just cast ED or sometimes when theres a ton of mobs like Breach etc. I like to use Contaigon to get that satisfying ~everything melts away~ My Defences are 10k-25k (Grim Feast) ES and Faster Start of Recharge with CI, the tons of Slow from TempChains and Chronomancer Ascendancy. The Revert time is amazing to recharge Mana after using Despair and escaping Mobpacks. I have Chaos DMG on nearly everything and around 11 +Levels total. All from buying <10Ex Items or 1Ex items. Mana Sustain is completely fine even spamming Hexblast, with the Recharge while walking Node + some mana regen from gems / items. Flask for all the rest. I am trying around a lot in Terms of support gems and what feels best but overall this feels like a very Solid and balanced Character. Wish I could share my Character but no clue how it works with PoE2. Random one hit deaths are unavoidable even with 20k ES but are extremely rare. My Last one was few Levels ago, probably was a bug anyways. Yes I know Chronomancer doesnt give any DMG increase but it's unbeatable Quality of Life and Fun for me! Looking forward to this guide, to hopefully find many spots to improve my build even further! |

I'm just on +9 levels and recovery during clear is a pain in high level maps. My usual rotation in T14/T15 is ED/Contagion/Effigy + Blink to the next pack (in T10-T13 it's better as I don't need effigy for packs). This rotation costs more than 500 mana and I spam it ~ every 3 seconds. If I fully spec for manaregen, with constant uptime of manaflask it's barely enough to break even. With despair here and there for a rare it requires me to either slow down or insert manadrain in the rotation. Hexblast on +11 should cost ~1k mana (566 base + support multipliers)?
