POE2: Any starting tips?

Focus on what makes the game fun for you. Not what makes it fun for others. I recommend heavily to only compete vs yourself until you feel more comfortable. I see way too many people feel miserable trying to compare themselves to people playing this game as a second job(or main even xD). If your fun comes from that kind of ambition then go ahead by all means. I just recommend it not being the first approach :)

Play the game and enjoy it the way you like.
Don't let yourself be dragged into artificial fomo caused by bad "content" creators lol
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.
From what people who played have said, the game prioritizes defense more than offense, so you might want to take that into account.
Learn the lingo for mechanics, like Increase is additivie and More is multiplicative.
Hope this gets covered in some tutorial somewhere in the game.

I really prefer not to look at content creators as much. It's all, "Most meta build", "Kill everything in 2 hits", etc. etc. My hope is that POE2 has a decent enough campaign/story. No idea how POE1 was since I never played it. I generally also like doing a lot of side quests and story lines. Discovery is one of my favorite parts in any new game.
the dev and in an essence the game is VERY SPECIFIC with their language.

when people say "learn to read" this is one of the main reasons.

for example one support gem increases your physical damage a great deal but at the cost of not being able to do elemental/chaos damage.

a friend of mine struggled thru the game and i helped him out with his build. found out he was using an ELEMENTAL skill but had that particular gem equipped which made his damage.... neutered. lol.

all because he didnt care enough to read.

pay attention to skill gem TAGS.

if an active skill has a physical tag, a support gem that doesnt have the tag might not support the skill.

in anycase. i would say, EXPLORE the game yourself. enjoy the process.

and i would even go on to say DO NOT FOLLOW BUILD GUIDES. try making your own build.

its a new game and if you follow some other bloke build guide you rob yourself of the enjoyment of figuring things out yourself.

Git gud!
