POE2: Any starting tips?

"
yes. There are stash tabs for all kinda of specific things that hold way more than if you just stored them in a normal stash tab. Like with a currency tab it will stack upto 5000 of an item instead of the normal stack limit. And how trade/selling works is you can set a price in some kind of currency for things in your stash than it gets parsed by the trade site for people to view. There are tons of different kinds of currency not just gold. Currency does all kinds of things to modify items with some rarer than others

Thank you!

So this is like slot/tab expansion. Makes sense. I guess I will see how it goes for me before I start buying them.

I did not realize that POE has a live market. I thought it was just vendor driven.
it's a bit convoluted where you have to access an external website copy the players name and message them in game saying I want to buy xyz. There's no auction house like you would see in WOW
Creating ur own build is a puzzle. Finding solutions to shortcomings in ur build is what makes poe special.

So don't worry if ur build isn't very good in the beginning, keep tinkering and u will be rewarded. (at least with experience :D)
My best tip?

HAVE FUN, play blindly, stop looking to youtubers, guides, streamers, etc.
Enjoy the game and once you finish the campaign and reach endgame and realize your character is crap and cant kill anything or progress, then enjoy the wikis, content, try to maker more character and build new ones (with or without help) etc.

My tip is to try and accept that you are going to feel overwhelmed, that you are going to second guess your every decision, and that you are going to die a lot.

If you can adjust your mindset now, before the game inevitably clobbers you in the mouth (repeatedly), perhaps it won't sting as much.

I haven't played an ARPG since Diablo 3. I never tried PoE1 mainly because I was focused on other games, and I worried I had fallen too far behind to join later.

I purchased a supporter pack to gain early access and would like to know if there are any tips for a newcomer to ease into PoE2. I know this game offers a lot which can be overwhelming and would like to get as much enjoyment as I can out of it. I would like to stick around and enjoy this game for a long time.

Thanks.

I would suggest just having fun exploring and trying stuff with your first character.
Play with the mindset that you are gonna make another and try to learn the ropes.
Look guides and streamers later. Maby look wiki but thats it.
It can look overwhelming at first but you learn as you go and the journey is awesome. (unless you are the type who needs everything now).
Buy stashtabs on sale later if you really like the game. Those are handy in trading and endgame.
Also vaal orbs can brick your stuff. Use with that in mind.(Learned this the hard way when i got my first really good item back in the day).
Try to keep your resists at good levels to make things easier.
So many great tips. Thanks all.

I plan to pick a class that seems right for me after reading their descriptions. Hope to not need any guides, builds, etc. to get to end of the campaign (hopefully). I have zero idea about the end game in this but will try to enjoy the campaign as much as I can.

Two things; Anyone telling you specific things about PoE2 is a liar, no one knows anything for sure yet.

Read carefully and read it twice. Never assume anything at first glance, as the games mechanics are very particular about what does what. Even after reading it, experiment with whatever it us you are using and watch the results carefully.

its not actually that hard to make a decent build in poe
if you enjoy buildcrafting (in-game) and have time for that you'll be fine
its just a lot of people dont have the time, dont enjoy thinking about their build too much or simply want the most meta op build to smash monsters and get loot

make sure you're following the top 3 streamers on your 2nd 500 inch monitor. follow every move they make, get those twitch drops, and make sure to engage in the chat every other 30seconds or so. also, every time they open up the skill tree, open yours and double check!

remember, keeping your eyes on their stream instead of your game is how you can truly transcend and feel the rich gaming environment that poe offers. good luck!
