Ascendancies and Minions in PoE 2
" Just read deeper into it—one could argue that the "25% Life for more Spirit" mechanic is also minion-related or can be used to stack more auras. Additionally, there’s an argument that the Infernalist is the "Fire Damage Class," which is in stark contrast to their hesitation to implement the Necromancer as the dedicated Minion class—so one could say that’s a bit hypocritical. In my personal opinion, after reading the Ascendancies, both Witch ones seem to have more drawbacks, whereas the other classes have fewer. I find this a bit unbalanced. Writing this and researching further, yes, this feels like a grave oversight! Other Ascendancies only get buffs, and the few drawbacks they have are optional. In contrast, both Witch Ascendancies seem to rely heavily on drawbacks that require builds and nodes to work around them. I’m not convinced this is the way forward for a balanced approach. But we will see soon enough... |

" It could be, but traveling is now less punishing as you can choose which attributes you collect along the way, so there might be a way to do this effectively. However, I also don’t know how powerful the Ascendancies of the Legionnaire affect minion gems. I mean, +1 is nice—it always has been—but we don’t know how nice it will be in PoE 2. |

I looked deeper into the Ascendancies, and I think it’s a bit wonky:
Stormweaver - Cold and Shock Class (a.k.a. Lightning and Cold damage class) Chronomancer - Chronomancer class Titan - Versatile Slam class Warbringer - Warcry and Totem class Deadeye - Frenzy Charges and Projectile/Ranged class (really versatile) Pathfinder - Flask and Concoction class (somewhat versatile) Blood Mage - Blood Magic class Infernalist - Infernalist Fire Damage and Burn class Witchhunter - Versatile "YOU" class Gemling Legionnaire - Super versatile class Invoker - Melee Cold/Lightning versatile class Acolyte of Chayula - Mana Leech (Melee) Chaos(Resistence?) class I guess it could be super interesting for minions if we get a Keystone that allows "mechanisms that apply to 'You' to also apply to Minions." But again, deducting this, i don't know why we can't get a Necromancer - Minion Curses class |

I believe the only Witch ascendancy that can more or less fit the Minion playstyle is Infernalist
- nodes which increase spirit (allowing to have more minions) - node which gives passive 20% fire damage for your allies (and minions as result). - 2x infernal hounds as additional minions with "fire aura" node as well. Also i am not sure how damage types are working with minion damage, e.g. if minions is doing fire damage, does fire dmg scaling will work on minion dmg, etc. PoE nowadays looks more and more like a fork server with tons of custom weird experimental stuff rather than original game with carefully thought out balance brough live to players. My suspicions were confirmed, GGG hates minions. Ofc they will never outright admit it so they do it in this childish way.
I'm not even upset that we have no minion class, although a tad didappointed. What irks me is the reasoning they gave. All other ascendencies focus on something, yet having one for minions is problematic. Like, give me a better excuse if you're gonna be like that. An ascendency focused on more spirit would already fill the gap.

I think they would rather just focus on things like spirit efficiency ascendancies and gem level shenanigans when it comes to minion boosting stuff.
It's also worth noting that we only got 1/3 of the total ascendancies we will see in the game i think right? or was it 2/3? cant remember. But there is a chance more ascendancies can have stuff that boost allies or spirit and gem levels typa thing. |

" Exactly, but it can not hurt to give early feedback on the issue. |

There's plenty of synergies with minions and the existing ascendancies and not to mention you get such a variety of different minions you can use now it is easy to make them synergize even more.

What im curious about right now, is nodes on the skill tree like, Spiral into Insanity, It applies 10% to global defenses.
So would this mean the defenses of your minions too? Poe has always been the most difficult in their wording on skills and passives. Lets hope we get a more intuitive minion section on the character tab. So you can actually see what applies to minions too. |
