DO NOT make your own build in EA

I managed to make my builds work in poe1.

Do not take this the wrong way. But what did your juggernaut (at settlers) actually achieve?

Getting to level 83 in a hardcore league is probably better than a majority of players, and is probably better than 99% of the entire player base can do, even if they follow a build guide.

Your builds will not work. Period.

So many people are telling others "check this out, try that", "Hundreds of gems available", "There will be thousand of possible builds"...

No. Lies upon lies. Click baits.

The offense in this game relies on strong synergy from equipment and tree nodes. The damage is calculated in terms of millions. It is the result from chain of multiplication, cheesy conversions and focusing all investment on one thing.

The defense is organized on different layers, demanding heavy investment, often in multiple of them, to ensure character survival.

The game was, is, and always will be, balanced against top builds.

You will never be able to pick nodes on the go, and come up with something that works. Even if you are particularly good at math, prototyping requires tools, that allow you to check if the end-game numbers are actually alright.

So if you want to see something more than the campaign (And you should, because otherwise its 30 buck for 3 acts...), "experimenting" is absolutely not recommended.

Nice try, Fextralife.

This... this is exactly my point.

Even IF people follow a optimal build guide, it is unlikely that events will take positive turn.

What remains if they start to pick sub-optimal build paths. It is very very unlikely this to bear any fruit.

On this particular point, we are on the same page.

What does this mean? Is this an insult?
That probably means YOU are unable to create a very good build yourself but others probably can if they try until it works fine..!
No need to follow a build if you know how to scale dmg and increase defense properly..
OP can i ask you something? have you gotten past act 5?
arpgs are easy, ape read tag, add tag named damage-modifierd nodes, read secondary tag, add more nodes, idk what is the difficulty of this. on the other hand, add all the possible layers of defense ditto, functional build.

PSA don't to get baited by turdzaran or maxtroll builds btw.
I heard they removed life nodes from the skill tree. I assume ES nodes too. If so, making your own builds should be ok because you just go to the damage nodes your build uses. If you do that in POE1 you just keep dying because you end up with no life which is the issue many new players have when building characters. But if there are no life nodes on the tree then you should still end up with something workable in POE2 without following a guide.

I made that mistake on my first character when I started POE1 in 2013. Thought I could just take the damage nodes and dodge everything but didn't get far past lvl60.
