SONY is responsible for the PSN MTX debacle?

Why are people saying that Sony is to blame for GGG not allowing supporter pack cosmetics purchases to be used on PC for POE 2?

GGG has the tools to allow this. Now if they're not doing so and blaming Sony for their inability to transfer it that means GGG won't allow it in fear of legal repercussion. For whatever reason. GGG has the power to do this, if Sony says they're not allowing it, it has no weight on the fact that GGG can still do it. Are they going to get sued? Either way, GGG can in fact do this. The outcome and repercussions are not what I'm considering.

Is this tin foil hat theory that SONY is an evil corporate glutton have even the slightest shred of evidence? Please post.

Thanks in advance.

I would hope that all of these allegations have a paper trail and not just "GGG says it's Sony's fault". I personally don't play the blame game when something goes wrong in my business and am confused as to how SONY has any power over what GGG does with their own game. Does SONY own GGG now? Either way I do enjoy this Diablo-Like game and plan to give EA a chance. They'll get my money regardless. My loyalty however is in question. Seems GGG stopped carrying about loyalty and is focused on money now. That's the only factual thing I'm noticing.

Please no personal opinions. Just links to actual facts and paper trails from credible sources.

Unfortunately, any purchases made on PlayStation platforms cannot be used on other platforms, and purchases made on other platforms cannot be used on PlayStation platforms. Note that these purchases can still be on the same sub-account, but the microtransactions will be marked as unavailable when viewing them in your stash.

You asked why but you seem to know the answer to your own question. They aren't going to change it or else there would be serious repercussions. I know you don't care if GGG gets sued, but I'm sure they do.

I ... am confused as to how SONY has any power over what GGG does with their own game.

It's not what GGG does with their own game which is the issue, it's what GGG is allowed to do on Sony's platform. If the game was buy-to-play we'd likely not see any issue whatsoever, but it's free-to-play so that complicates things WRT in-game stores etc.

It's a scumbag move from Sony and GGG. I have spent over a thousand in just the last couple years on digital items that really hold no value and can just be printed instantly.

I Have mtx on xbox and pc. I have had to buy all stash tabs for both. I enjoy console and I would like to play PoE 2 on the best console possible by hardware and that is PS5 pro which I bought one just for PoE 2.

I have not even got my key yet feels like I won't get one. Which $30 is nothing anyway. I am really turned off at having to play on my PC or rebuy all stash tabs a 3rd time on a console I just spent $700 on to play PoE 2 on.

I don't think I will rebuy stash tabs and lose all my MTX. I am also never spending money on the game again.

I am going to see if I can just play on ps5 pro and then hop on PC for my stash tabs and trading. If that don't work I won't play.

Because they are?

GGG already stated that they wanted to do this, it just depended on how negotiations went with the console publishers, Microsoft went for it this time (they were the first to say no last time)
Sony said no to this, why? because they feel they can get more money blocking the MTX transfer and forcing the players to buy on their platform (they get a cut of the sale), to them if they allowed it, it would be like seeing tens of millions of dollars worth of MTX on their platform that they get no part of.

Sony like it or not can remove the game from their platform, no longer update it, withhold any sales done through them.

It's honestly too bad that these 2 companies can't come to an agreement for the player base on PSN.
I play alot between pc and ps5 and I was really looking forward to being able to swap between the 2 for poe2 with cross progression being enabled.
I am particularly disappointed to not have the mtx I have earned each season available to me if I swap to pc.
I'm curious how it will work if I log onto pc, will my mtx stash tabs be withdraw only? Will they show up at all? If I play on PS with my pc friends will their visual mtx not show on my side?

It just seems petty. Sony has already made money on their end it's not like they lose that money. Also PS players seeing cool pc players with mtx is like free advertising.

There will always be player preference, whether you choose PS or PC is up to you. I'm leaning to pc for convenience, MaKB seems incredibly easier for navigating menus and inventory management, also having a second monitor with my PoB or the wiki up is incredibly handy. But on the other hand the comfort of chilling on the couch playing on my big TV or portable is pretty awesome.

Could there not be a % of all mtx transactions for accounts originating on PSN given to Sony so everyone is happy?

C'mon Sony, some of us have been loyal players for decades, it's not like I'm never buying anything on PSN ever again, I even just upgraded my PS+ to the next level. I just want to be able to swap between platforms without a pay wall in-between and use the ingame mtx I've earned, playing and paying to play on your platform.
So SONY is worried that people will go off playstation store to make the MTX purchases?

It used to be like this for XBOX too
I had an XBOX for a while, while my PC had died
Saw PoE was on XBOX
So nice! I'll have something to play
Then I see my MTX don't carry over ...
Nvm then

So in my case it just prevented me from spending any money in the first place, because I didn't start playing

SONY should instead find a way to make people more encouraged to spend money on their platform, if that's their reasoning
Steam has the point shop etc

You are trying too hard.
If you have to ask if SONY/MICROSOFT/any other scumbah corporation is responsible, you already know the answer. And Sony, in the last year at least, has proved that it cannot be trusted with anything.

It's not going to be legal repercussion.

The obvious result would be removal from PSN--so unless you have a way to install, run, and update PoE on your PS5 that doesn't require the PSN....or you're just moving from PS5 to PC and don't care about playing on PS5 anymore...this should be something you consider.

For comparison, "not using the App Store" is how you install Fortnite (similar instructions for Android) after Epic Games broke contract by directing users to make their purchases directly from Epic Games, rather than through the Google/Apple payment systems (where the platforms take a portion of the payment).

From the wiki article on the lawsuit:
"
Judge Rogers ... further stated that Epic did violate its contractual terms as a developer with Apple in how they deployed the update to Fortnite in August 2020 that instigated events, such that Apple may block Epic in the future from providing apps to the App Store.
