Hardcore PathOfExile2
HC for every diablo game, even blind at release, no problem
HC for poe, no thanks lol too many 1shots |

I love HC, I've played every game that way but I will have to wait and see if its fair.
PoE 1 HC was sabotaged by instant logout cheese, making death easily avoidable and "slow death" which is the most memorable way of dying virtually impossible. HC is more than a mod, its the idea that your character is mortal just like you, and fear of dying is very real, thats how its so obsessive and admirable from spectator view. |

yes, but this game will have much more complex cobmat mechanics. I DOUBT anyone that starts as HC on the first day will complete the campaign on their first HC character.

" Probably, but that's not the main goal I didn't even think of finishing the campaign yet lol I just want to be there |
|
" The real hardcore people don't use logout cheese. Since I am the only one who did not use logout macros but portal scrolls, I am the only real hardcore player.
Spoiler
a bit of sarcasm, people, but really I am the only hardcore one :)

" You're not the one, dude. logout macros are the cancer of hardcore. IGN: Gonorreitor

I like what they did with the endgame bosses and maps, that's HC enough for me. I've seen people floating this idea that HC death should be something between total erase and 10% xp loss, so now that's in standard until they cave in.

I'm sorry to say but whoever is going to play HC is going to feel fooled.
They deny your ability to prove yourself and play the most fair way without cheat death mechanic which is exactly what logout is, because they want to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. They want you to keep yourself under false belief that what you're playing is hardcore, while at the same time avoid repercussions whenever players die and blame the game and eventually leave the game, instead they're given ability to consensually either die or cheat death, conveniently to GGG players choose cheat death but its not really a choice. They learned people psychology very well, but not too well unfortunately, because real hardcore gamers will switch to different projects and it will impact them monetarily in the long run. I predict current version of POE2 HC will be the most miserable and unpopular option to play the game once people realize that nobody is really dying. I'm just going to pray that one day HC audience will get to acknowledge that GGG did them dirty and either rage quit to different project or publicly announce that GGG vision is a disgrace for the mode. |

hardcore from day 1 all the way.
that's how i will learn. not a fan of softcore it always ends in "keep diving until it works". dont like it. Last edited by teksuoPOE#2987 on Dec 4, 2024, 11:05:35 PM

I really love and respect that explanation of why blind HC on a new release is so engaging.
When I first found OE1, I quickly decided to play SSF hardcore.. and it was a long time before i learned you could logout... and I loved it. Once I learned you could logout, I felt cheated, and I've not played HC since. Why is there is mechanic in the game that is not only cheapening the whole idea of HC, but is also "hidden" behind something I would never think is a game mechanic (i.e. logout). I believe POE2 might have added a "port to checkpoint" button, so players don't need to find the arcane knowledge of using logout... However, I'm still not a fan of cheating death. As for POE2 launch, I will be playing SC, because I have two buddies I've known for 20 years that I'm luring over from Diablo... and they are not going to play hardcore.
