devs are 100% more active on discord

Personally, I'd really prefer that GGG keep their interaction to these forums. I don't really like that they share data on discord, which then doesn't get seen by anyone not on the right discord server or channel (which, as OP said, isn't even officially related to GGG).
My take is that most especially they shouldnt post in private/other places that arent even visible without having an account there. (Assuming those discord things arent visible without account there but dont really know.)
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

yep you cant read stuff there without an account.
so basically if one developer decided to drop information "privately" (cus thats what developers do in their free time right? , talk about the game they're making and keep all these informations in a private area of 100k people lol)
here on this forum i can read without any account as far as i know

eh its a public discord you can join or not. Dont really see the harm in it.

Weren't they bombarded with death/r4p3 threats(especially in Bex's case) from the community because stuff in a video game were nerfed?

Not too surprised.

Wished we could go back to a time before e.g. Expedition were things got real heated, and the devs retreated from Reddit entirely. It was a real cool thing to witness players debating questions over how parts of the game work and have a dev chime in and give a response.

That's one of the things we lost due to parts of the community having a real "gamer moment"

Caring what devs think at this late stage in the game? I guess that's a thing.

As long as they make a game I want to play, they could be little balls of pink jelly for all I care. And if they don't, I will play/support something else.

They wwre "involved" with the community for as long as they had to be. Now, apparently "community" as in "community event" or "community feedback" means big streamers so yknow. That's also a thing.

Worrying about devs posting more on reddit than here is so 2014.
https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.
Weird how you say you dislike devs sitting down with popular streamers for interviews but you talk me down for wanting dev engagement with regular people on Reddit.

Really weird.

This POE discord seems horrible, I even got almost harassed in game by people using it because i was "selling my maps too cheap" or "selling my hideout unlock spot too high". Seems it's also a RMT central hub.

POE Reddit was almost "ok" several years ago but not anymore:
Moderation enforcement will monitor anything criticizing (even in very well manner) the game and will try to find any reason to delete it.
So now you are not only weirdly down-voted by half "fan boys" and half "trolls who are just here to hurt people" but also censored with a risk to be banned if you talk about common issues. IE: Bots invasion.

This forum, the official one, seems to have way more 'freedom' than others. Weird and Well played.
You speak of «The» PoE Discord, and «PoE Reddit», but it's not like they're official ones run by GGG.

So, who is running these ? (Aside from the companies Discord & Reddit of course.)

(Is this list of moderators basically the answer for that subreddit ? Or are there other kinds of representatives ?)

(Don't say «the community», since
1.) they're not representative of all of the active PoE1 players, much less PoE1 players in general
2.) it's just eluding the question about the people involved — you wouldn't say this with any actually named fan PoE website !)

Arguably there's no such thing as a public Discord chatroom, they're all private by design.
(Have you ever seen a search engine quote and/or link to a Discord post ?)

(Also, can you even make a (working) Discord account these days without giving them your phone number ?)

my question is then, why have a forum where you can share feedback and suggestions? lol
just boil it down to bug reports or something and thats it. i cant even remember bli$$ard ever doing such things :D

I'm the first one to complain about the (current ??) lack of developer involvement in this (official !) community, which is definitely not what I am used to with smaller devs, but let's face it, things could also be much worse :
Official Rimworld Forums — About the «Ideas» board
I suspect because RimWorld now does have an official Discord chatroom.

(At least now they seem to have cleared out the spam...)

Also seriously, why would you use the huge corporation that is (Microsoft-)Activision-Blizzard (assuming that's what you refer to with the $$) as an example ?

Yeah this ship sailed a long time ago. Even before the bunker down order came post 3.15 debacle.

Hell they don't even have a direct face for a community manager any longer, instead opting for a "Community Team".

I guess if you really care, you could submit a Bingo card to Reddit, maybe Mark will read it. Doubt it, but maybe.

In fairness it doesn't help that the PoE community itself is one of the worst in gaming, prompting said actions above. I still maintain it was a slight overreaction, but I don't exactly fault CW for erring on the side of his employees over John Q. Random Gamer. Going "no contact" just seems extreme.

It will be interesting to see how the marketing blitz on PoE2 with this sort of arms length policy, will work. Will they relax it? Mark and Jonathan only? Anything similar to then D4 campfire chats? (Doubtful)
