Hmmm, never had this happen or saw it.
WHen I start my Steam I directly see my game library. To see any shop/advert I have to activly click the shop button.

But it might be very posible I set it up this way once and forgot about "normal" behavior :).

As you seam to be a Linux-User ... yea, Linux is nice but sorry ... not posible or the right solution for everyone :(. And Depending on Distro has it's very own problems.
Just the point that you have so many Distros is a problem on it's own.

Anyway. Pros and Cons of librarys like Steam and Linux are topics on their own.
Here it's all about a PathOfExile . exe stand-alone client :).

And until now I get the impression I am not alone with my wish.
So GGG please make it posible :D.
