Best Feeling Ever
There is nothing I love more than having an intense 3 minute fight with a Verisium ore unique monster to drop that sweet 500 gold which has happened all three times I faced such monsters. If there's one thing I love about PoE, it's this consistent theme of high risk - high reward throughout the whole game where each season devs work hard and put immense effort to make every challenging monster rewarding so that the player would be motivated to their ground for that reward instead of just running away to not lose experience for example.
Somehow I hoped we left this phase behind us during the Kalandra league when ds_lily was fighting some touched AN skeleton for several minutes and dropped a pile of vendor garbage, but I guess I was wrong. Same old, same old. Last bumped on Sep 8, 2024, 7:43:16 PM

Sir, this is a currency simulator, not an ARPG. I suggest you go try Last Epoch instead.

" Except something that is "hight risk" for you, is "oh, verisium, nice, 5sec and done" for someone else. If what is hard for casuals would give huge rewards, I would probably hit mirror stash limit by now this league. Biggest compliments for my crafted items - "bs, they must have been RMT'ed" I'm disabled, I have rare case of semperduravera, so I can write things that may look rude, but it is because of disability - I'm forced to tell truth using words you may not like. If your dps is bad just dont charge it to 100%? The game gives you a difficulty slider, you choose to set it to MAX then complain when it‘s too hard. The real reward is the Verisium which turns into Scarabs in Riben Fell so you are very wrong about it not being rewarding. I send small shipments of 5 verisium bars with 1 sailor to Riben and get runes + scarabs in my downtime between large shipments and it‘s fantastic.
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" If something is 10x harder than the rest on the map, then it's objectively challenging. Plus it's a random encounter, not something guaranteed that you can force and farm like a loot pinata, so I'm not seeing the reason to not make it at least somewhat rewarding.
" Well, I slid it to the max because it's only 500, and I can do 500 unless those unrewarding abominations pop-out. Lesson learned - next time I'll just run away, because that Verisium is not worth the effort.
" But it is objectively not harder at all. It takes few seconds to kill the boss and get the ore, I see this verisium for this little work a good reward. If you have problems with the boss, then maybe you shouldn't charge it to full yet, you may not be ready for it. Biggest compliments for my crafted items - "bs, they must have been RMT'ed"

" Sweaty no-lifer playing meta build? Channel 100%, clear in 1 second. Everyone else? Channel 75% to reduce the difficulty immensely, receive barely reduced reward. They gave us an option, use it.
" Yap, that's what usually do when it's over 500. And exactly right - barely reduced reward, but noticeably increased risk. High risk - no reward as usual.
" How is it not? You could argue that my build is bad/lacks dps, whatever and I don't doubt for a second that for other builds it might be a breeze, but in the context of my build - if my build can do the rest of the map easily why should there be something that is much stronger than the overall map, yet unrewarding and ultimately not worth interacting with? |
