Well this is odd
A steam achievement caught my eye...
Kill dominus as XYZ. All classes range from 10-16% who HAVE done it. How is that possible? Wouldn't it mean 90% of players never played that class beyond act 3 dominus? How can every class be that low? Then I saw the general achievement, "kill high templar dominus", which is at a stunning 25% ?? Only 75% of ALL PLAYERS have killed dominus on any class? All those steam players just never finished a3 ?? It does mean the a3 dominus right? Not some map version of him? Either way, these are some weird ass numbers, someone explain? you download new game, play it, see shit graphics and wooden animation, leave
This game has been out for over a decade. Many people tried it for 10min 1hour or whatever. They are coutned as having played and deflate the numbers on the achivements. Typicall for free to play games
not that many people play on steam

Game is F2P. Probably millions downloaded it, played for a couple of minutes and uninstalled because it's not for them.

If you look at the Steam achievements for even expensive AAA games you'll see that the amount of people that bought it and barely played it is huge.

Would be cool if steam had a filter, so we can limit the achievement view to "last actively played 1 week / month / year".

" This. Dominus got introduced in 2013 (1.0) if I remember correctly. So those achievements are 11 years old. In a F2P game, especially a "hardcore", difficult F2P game, the low percentages aren't surprising at all. There are no opportunity coasts for trying PoE, other than the download size - but PoE will never be everyone's cup of tea. So every single account/player/bot/ trying the game through Steam, is being counted - every day, every year for 11 years. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

" from what ive heard an avg steam player doesnt play the games they own in their library, i think 80% of steam copies are never even played
I have some friends on steam where i can see it with my own eyes. Played 36 minutes 8 years ago and stuff like that. Mud Flats to hard, ripbozo xd

" 25% of players on Steam have killed Dominus at least once. Some percentage of players have done this more than once, but the achievement is a one-time thing, so it doesn't capture this behavior as a single stat. It does record each class they were playing at the time, though, which is why the separate "by class" stats add up to more than the "at least once" stat. They're measuring different things. Also, Steam players are not the entirety of PoE's player base; it excludes players who are using the stand-alone client, the Epic Game Store, and both consoles. So, no, the steam achievement count doesn't necessarily mean that only 25% of players finished act 3. For a free-to-play game, it's probably not too far off, but only GGG know what the cross-platform stat is. Remember, remember the 6th of December...
