Why the hell is Sanctum a core feature of PoE now?

The thing that bugs me is:

sanctum was a specific game mode league that is very rewarding but requires specific cheese builds to enjoy optimally. Goes core, people rejoice.

tota was a specific game mode league that is very rewarding but requires specific cheese builds to enjoy optimally. Goes on failed league dumpster, people rejoice.

Sometimes the echo chamber giveth, sometimes the echo chamber giveth the finger.

They are definitely branches of the same tree, I wouldn't call either of them cheese requiring but sanctum requires a "normal" character lets say with a specific focus whereas Tota wanted a completely abnormal character with a specific focus.

There is an important distinction there, I have no idea why GGG chose one over the other but I really enjoyed both just for the variety they gave us. Tota was excellent to have a league mechanic that rewarded your time more than your build - that is unique in PoE aside from crafting I guess lol
Speaking of casual players, Sanctum still doesn't have a Help Panel page, and its Master doesn't even tell you what resolve is mechanically and that it's about trying to not to get hit !

Now of course you will figure it out by yourself after a few tries... the problem is that it might take a while for the next tomes to drop - and being spaced out makes learning so much harder ! (Arguably, mostly relevant for Solo Self Find ?)

This despite Sanctum being the only former temporary challenge mechanic that is guaranteed in the campaign ! (Arguably, mostly relevant for Ruthless ?)
I hate sanctum so much, I don't even pick up the tomes.
I pick up the tomes but dont use them. If i want to play roguelike i play something different, not PoE.
actually, whats missing is a little bit on the atlas tree for sanctum.. say wheel to increase tome drop chance and one wheel giving maybe bosses a small chance to drop a relic... one can dream right?

I wished.. if you play SSF and need one of the uniques exclusive to the mechanic, you're outta luck otherwise.

Every single time I do sanctum I get excited getting closer to the end then I end up dying to a single hit by lycia, like wtf, I thought damage was supposed to be tuned down, even with boons that reduce damage, what's the point of resolve, every single time. Then I toss out all the tomes and stop playing them for the league

Is everyone who complains about Sanctum is because they're just bad at it?
They don't want the time to learn/be patient/only rely on one shotting everything off screen with one click?

Can't wait when PoE2 launches and they realize they have to use some brain capacity to get through the game.

I'm sure that is true for a percentage of Sanctum haters, but surely not for all of them. Personally, I wished if there was some more variety to Sanctum as fighting the same few bosses time and time again gets old real quick.

You know, to spice things up a bit more and keep you on your toes. A lot of the excitement is lost as Sanctum gets predictable with experience
