I have been following Zizran's guide. But I cannot make Frostbolt to fire when I switched to Kitava's Thirst. Am I doing something wrong or it has changed. My tooltip showed that "Ice Nova of Frostbolt" only cost 63mana to cast.

Yes, the issue is that your frost nova costs too little. Kitava's thirst has a 50% chance of triggering whenever you spend 100 mana. If your spell spends less than 100 mana it won't attempt to trigger at all, it has to be in a single cast. I can't give specialized advice because your profile is private and you didn't post a PoB but I would recommend either deallocating a reduced mana cost node or swapping inspiration to a different support gem. That may be enough to get you back above 100 mana per cast.

I got my Kitava's Thirst to work. But boy I think I did something wrong with my build/gears. I can't even finish 76 heist quickly. Could someone help me with some improvements?

I m dying left and right if the mobs could freeze/stun/root me. I felt like I am not tanky at all for some reason.

There are several issues that immediately spring to mind, first of all you are running a random rare chest instead of cloak of defiance, you really need the mana regen it gives and the free keystone makes pathing much more efficient. Second of all you are running replica reckless defence without ailment immunity, as a result basically every source of cold damage has a significantly increased chance to freeze you. Furthermore your gear just kind of sucks, both your wands are terrible, mana and spell damage are the two most valuable mods on them and its super low on both of them. Your amulet is terrible, swap for atziri's foible and knock GMP down to level 1, frostbolt is not a source of damage in this build and running atziri's instead resolves most of your attribute issues and provides a giant chunk of mana and some regen. Once you have addressed that issue there is another, you have pathed to take advantage of unnatural instinct + light of meaning lightning but you do not have either socketed, put light of meaning where you currently have replica reckless and unnatural instinct in the socket by shaper (path to the socket with the life regen nodes) and that should give a very large chunk of dps as well.

Furthermore, the Ziz dual-wand build is a glass cannon, its sole real mitigation is MoM + lots of mana and occasionally frost shield, which given the delay in getting frost nova to start hitting can be very problematic. This thread is about the svalinn version which sacrifices some damage potential for vastly better survivability. I would recommend looking at the guide in the first post and trying to change your build to be more similar to that.

Edit: Also you just have the issue of having almost no mana on your gear, its an extraodinarily valuable roll for this build and you're missing something like 800ish base mana off your gear currently from ideal.

Thanks a lot for these pointers. I will read them more closely to fix issues. Now, how do you suggest I should get the gears you mentioned. Do I just farm and hope for the best? Or I actually should start crafting them? I was just hoping to get a simple 6 links for the chest but it never dropped for me. I am very new to this game even it's already out for a long time. The complexity of the game play is humongous.

I agree that the guy you are responding to is scuffed, but dual wand does not equal glass cannon.

As someone who has shunned the shield version, I think i'm still pretty tanky.
