" Nah, pretty sure most of you aren't following me on either of those. Which is fine -- social media's deeply problematic. But it's also a tool, and one I need to use for now. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am completely off all SM platforms.
Hopefully you will still post a bit here from time to time. ~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums.

" ![]() If you’re taking a hardline position on social media, then hey - fair play; I can only respect that. All I’d say is, at the risk of being branded a shill or a fanboy, thus far Bluesky genuinely does feel different. I don’t - nor do I plan to - use Facebook, ExTwitter, Instagram, Threads, Mastodon, or any of the others. But a combination of a userbase that greatly differs from what you’d find on e.g. Musk’s platform and the (obviously unsustainable long-term) current lack of ads means it’s a unique experience - at least for the moment. It’d be a privilege to see you there sometime! edit: Can I even talk you into only using Bluesky and only on their website on desktops 'n' laptops? :P I think social media is fine provided they don't start to take over phones; the apps make it too convenient (and even tempting) to 'see everything', whereas imo social media platforms are rather more restrained when reduced to being just another browser tab. " Oh. Hey there. I am such a pleb on bsky but I'm doing my best. I never liked Twitter so it stands to reason I'd be more into the longer-form Effbee but I remain hopeful more of my peers will make the jump. Inertia and comfort are two hells of a drug. ___ Surprise surprise, making something free but on a platform far fewer people use has so far turned out to be less successful than charging for it on a platform seemingly everyone uses. :) If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

As an addendum I think this will be me going forward:
Ko-fi for ebook sales, rants and reviews of other indie authors -- I want to make this my primary presence online. Ingramspark and its various distribution channels for physical books. Effbee and bsky to link to those. Discord/email/messenger/gchat for direct communication. And eventually a proper website for my publishing business, JSS Press, for both my works and other indies who fit the...vibe of a particular sort of mature psychological fiction of any genre. I think that's my social media exit strategy. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.
